Fear of flying with new scans and "enhanced" body
I am opposed to this new "security" measures. They aren't making anyone safer and they are a direct violation of our 4th Amendment rights. They know this, and they don't care. It was just Chertoff's doing some corporate favors getting every airport in the country to buy these damn scanners, and it makes the government look like they are doing something to keep us safe. Security experts from all over the world has denounced these measures as wholesale ineffective, citing that typical means of tracking potential terrorists through intel and behavioral analysis has proven far more effective.
I won't be flying as long as these measures are in place because between my Asperger's and PTSD, I'd likely punch a TSA agents in the face if they did one of those pat-downs on me. And I don't have $11K to pay the fine. Also, I won't submit to a scanner because I deem it as an egregious violation to demand I be scanned when it is not effective as a security measure and it poses a health risk due the radiation exposure. Myself, I am at high risk of getting breast cancer. So no thanks. Next time I have to go anywhere, I'll drive, or I'll drive to either Mexico or Canada and fly out on their airlines.
But of course, these measures will stick around because Americans are pro-authoritarian cattle who want the government to be their parents and tell them everything is OK and no, we're not taking away your civil rights--we're just locking them up for safe keeping so the big bad terrorists won't get them. That goes for both Democrats and Republicans/Dumb-@ss Tea-Baggers. For all our talk about American liberty and ideals, the typical American voter just an't be bothered with living in a participatory democracy. It's too hard. It takes up too much time to pay attention. I can't remember all that stuff from high school anyhow. It's just easier to hand over our democracy to a centralized authority and let them do as they please without any accountability to us--and they have for the past 30 years. Now most Americans can't face the nightmare we've created--just please let me catch my fight! Do whatever you want to me! I just can't be be bothered to stand up for my rights anymore!
For most Americans, they wouldn't blink if all their civil rights were stripped from them as long as it doesn't cause them any inconvenience. How many Americans were upset with Bush suspended habeus corpus (which is still suspended) with the Military Commission's Act of 2006? Hm? Do Americans understand just how many of our civil rights are compromise if the government can suspend habeus corpus like that? Try 90% of the Bill of Rights. Do Americans care? Ha! So the government will get away with this crap, because Americans are showing themselves to be perfectly OK with fascism, in either Democrat or Republican flavors--just not that Hitler stuff, cos that kind of fascism is wrong.

I would suggest not to fly. As simple as that. I try to avoid flying as often as possible (had to when going to Ireland) despite EUropean airports not being as bad as USAnian ones. If I wanted to travel from East coast to west coast of the USA, I'd try travelling by train or something like that. It is possible to make a trip around the world without flying even once. ![]()

It isn't as simple as that. What if you want to move out of the US, but do not accept the "enhanced" (rape) patdowns or the nude scanners? By the way, for those who feel they prefer the nude scans, they do in fact save the photos taken, for whatever perverted reason (although they have claimed they do not, but this has proved to be a lie), photos have leaked out on the Internet, and airport "security" workers have been caught masturbating while looking at the nude scans. Just so everyone knows.
Here's another thread that brings up many depressing facts about this, including some links:

What do you do if you live in the US and want to leave the country permanently? Are there any private airlines you can use, that do not force you to go through the patdowns or nude scans? Alternatively, can you go by train to Canada and take a flight from there, instead? Or have Canadian airports that fly outside of Canada also started with the "enhanced" patdowns and nude scanners? Do people who want to permanently leave the US, but do not want to move to Mexico or Canada, have to go by boat? Do they even organize travels by boat, nowadays?
