heh... reminds me about back when the server at my dad's workplace got hacked using his account, his password? a common name and a letter. The passwords of his employees? not much different.

I had to tell him to instate a new password policy for the entire workplace. Did they listen? apparently not :D
I found that out by doing a little penetration test using his old password a few weeks after the breakin and got a direct remote desktop connection to the server with admin privileges.

told him again and he came around to changing his own password.

sometimes I just LOL at the security standards they keep at companies, no wonder they get hacked all the damn time and whine about it.

plus if they have an Apache server running on a linux server, it can get mighty easy to break in if you know where the UNIX/Linux passwd file is and they haven't hidden it, then all you need is a rainbow table, the password hash and about 0.00002 secinds of your time.

Reminds me of an expensive computer security course I went on once for techies. The guy running the course was some high flying international expert in computer security and he was annoyed that I'd "hacked" into the terminal server using the default password of "password" and changed it to something else locking him and everyone else in the class out! :P He did see the irony of it afterwards.

My windows password used to be my address, but that was only to keep my brother off of my computer. He never figured it out.

LOL :P

I once went into an internet cafe which used one of those timered log in systems, the idea being you pay someone for how long you wanted to use the computer and they log you in and tell the computer how much time you'd bought. So I went up to the computer and saw it already had a username typed in, so I typed in the same thing in as the password just out of boredom and, to my surprise, it let me in! When the window came up asking how long the session should be, I put something like 999 hours and hit OK, then continued to browse the web for a bit before walking away and leaving the computer open for anyone else to use for free :P
