but anyway, back on topic - I love Asian markets and my favorite part of nyc was Chinatown. I felt comfortable there.

And my grandmother makes inari sushi for Thanksgiving. :)

Russians, Turks and Cypriots are 'Asians' but you don't generally hear them being referred to as Asian now, do you? No. Asians generally refers to the area with the most people immigrants/descendants in it from that continent. So up here it is Pakistanis. But Asians, in its true sense, means the continent of Asia, so yes, that is right.

Or am I being too stupid? ;)

You're not being stupid. Asian includes Indians, Pakistanis, and their neighbors here (US), too. People usually think of East Asians first though, then go "oh yeah" when someone makes the point you've made.

The inclusion of Russians, etc. and related cultures becomes especially interesting in areas like southern Russia where the differentiation becomes more subtle and people don't fit into such tidy categories.

I love Asians! We have a tonne of Koreans at my school, and one of my very good friends is Chinese. :) The Korean guys are so fun. They're really nice and different. :P I sit next to one in programming and we goof around, and I'm planning a school techno dance with another... There are many more. Plus I have lots of girl friends who are Chinese and Korean.
How's that for Asian appreciation? :P

There are no such thing as 'races,' just a bunch of different ethnic backgrounds and cultures associated and developed by said groups.

If you want to talk about race, it's kind of a moot point, as it is something invented by white men in order to oppress..

When you say 'white' it's hard to know what you mean, as there are many 'white' groups, I assume you meant puritanical 17th/18th century English and Americans. But what about other 'white' people, such as those hailing from Ireland, scandinavia, parts of france etc etc
