For an Aspie, I am good at lying, and 9 times out of 10 I don't get caught out. But usually the lies I tell are little white lies - not the type of lies to get me into deep trouble. but my uncle said that if you tell one little white lie, you sometimes have to cover it up with another lie, then another, then another - until it becomes a huge lie what could have you ending up in trouble. But I only tell lies when I need to, and I am pretty good at concocting little stories up, and they are very convincing too - I've even had the job centre believing me of something (long story to explain) and that was over 2 years ago now, and it was the type of lie what is easily forgotten. (And no - it wasn't as big as a benefit fraud - I wouldn't lie enough to get myself into s**t).
I don't lie on WP because this is the place where I like to share how I feel with other Aspies, and I don't generally lie, but sometimes I do. I'm not the type to make up BS to or about people then spread it around so it turns into a false rumour - I'm NOT like that. But sometimes I use a lie to get me out of social situations, like ''I have a bad headache'' or something, and that is a convincing white lie because I always get headaches anyway, and to prove I do, I always feel sick or have a bit of a temperature with it if it gets so bad. Sometimes I feel guilty lying, depending on what the lie is. If I lie to my mum, sometimes I feel guilty - but I don't often.
But once I had to lie to my mum, to stop her from being upset. (This happened when I was 15). I was supposed to stay with a friend after school, but in the day we had a bit of an argument over nothing really, and all day she never mentioned about me coming round (we had planned it last week, either she had forgotten or she didn't want me coming round), and I didn't like to ask, since a hostile atmosphere was left between us. You know how awkward it is, being a teenage girl, Aspie or not! And so I came back home after school, but my mum was still at work. I didn't want to text her saying that I had an argument because she always got upset and felt all sorry for me when my friends were being a bit nasty (you know how mums are with their children), and she especially got upset when I had fall-outs with friends because she knew I struggled anyway. So I just text her saying that I haven't gone round because her little sister had a sick bug. She obviously believed me, but I felt sorry for her not telling the real truth, but about 2 years ago I told her the truth, and she wasn't so hurt for me because I had long left school then.
OK, that's my long-winded theory about me and lying.
