Search around for websites that organize flash mobs in your area... sometimes even geocaching.com uses flash mobs as an "event cache". I think you're looking to do something odd, spontaneous and fun... flash mobs are usually well-organized, safe and good-intentioned that fulfills this desire without getting you beaten up by the police.

Oh, come on! Do it! Maybe all that will happen is some old lady will taser you and you'll wet yourself. That'd be a great youtube video!

If that reality show isn't faked (I refuse to watch any of it) the victims of this "prank" could sue the people responsible and would probably win.

Even if you got away with this in the short term, you would (or should) eventually regret it in the long term when you think about what is was like for the people you inflict this on.

It's a health club, people are likely fit, but anyone can drop dead of a heart attack with the right amount of stress or trauma and underlying cardiovascular disease they are not aware of. The thought of you doing it isn't as nearly as traumatic as someone believing you actually have a gun and they might get shot and killed.

Although, this is not a likely scenario, you probably wouldn't feel too good about if it happened, regardless of your ultimate fate for having a part in.

Imagine, if a result like that were to happen, you might get to hear about it on CNN. Likely, it wouldn't be funny anymore.

People drop dead in Marathons, so it's not impossible. I was an Athletic director in charge of a Military fitness center, and the Navy required a defibrillator in the Center and employees to be trained to use it, because of the risk.

It is good of you to bring the topic to discussion, hopefully we brought to light potentials you might not have thought about.

People with heart conditions do go to health clubs to receive a mandatory and safe amount of exercise that helps them gain strength and maintain good health.

If you do this I won't feel sorry for you when you end up in the can. You don't think you did anything wrong? Causing distress and stuff for people like pulling out a fake gun is a criminal offense. You'll go to jail you idiot.

It's completely idiotic and attention seeking. Chances are if you are that desperate for attention, and what you will do to get it, you really DO need a psychiactric evaluation.

Unfortunately true, I suspect. This rubbish is spreading like a rash.

I find it amusing that I can't watch it because it's not available in my country. That's a first. I thought we invented crap.
Aww, that's a shame. I think you'd be quite impressed at just how far we've come in the crap market and pretty soon, I expect we'll exceed the USA's sterling efforts in this field.
On the other hand, the increase of this stuff must correspond directly to a power saving as people simply switch off so I guess there's a small benefit somewhere. God, I hope there is else we're all doomed.

That might have been more useful before you'd posted, but congratulations anyway for getting there. Eventually.
Someone suggested getting involved with a flash mob - now those do look like fun so instead of scaring the crap out of people, why not make 'em laugh instead?

Terrorizing people is hurtful. They could be permanently traumatized. From that point forward, they would feel vulnerable to a real attack. What would trigger post traumatic stress disorder varies from person to person.

There is a difference between knowing you could be a victim and convincing them (temporarily) that they might be about to die. This is the age of terrorism. Just because you might enjoy seeing someone do this, does not mean anyone else would.

yeah, agreed. i've been robbed with a gun pointed at my face, so i don't find the idea of a "pretend" robbery to be funny or fun or whatever. it's frankly cruel.
