Capitals are pretentious. I do like symmetry which is why I think the end of a sentence should also end with a capital letteR. A palidrome or two would be nicE. Rules are made to be broken.

Wow, mine's lowercase and has a number in it! How many people does this annoy!

To me, it's not a name, and I use this for a lot of things so it's easy to keep track of. There was an initial reason of why I started using "heckeler06", but the reason I use it for WP is simply the fact that I've used it before.

Although I could have:

XxX98hEckElEr06XxX

Which... messes with my eyes to look at!

It's actually one of those few things that doesn't bother me. So I roll with it...

the degree in which one is "assimilated" into culture, is proportional to the degree of annoyance. :P

Interesting question. I guess mine is lowercase because I thought of it like a URL or an email address. Though I guess since it is my first name and last initial you could argue that it should be DougN. That just looks awkward to me though. Maybe Doug_N is less bad but anyway I can't change it now and if I could I'd probably choose something not connected to my real name.

I can only think of one forum where I have a username that isn't all lowercase, and now it is bugging me that I'm not consistent... Thanks.

Kra17 looks ugly.
Sure, kra17 is ugly too, but not as ugly as Kra17. :)
My proper username that I use everywhere but here is capitalized

I'm just a mouse. I don't need capitalisation.

Because littlelily is not my real name and neither word is generally capitalized when written out in sentences. Soooo....why would I capitalize? If I sign a post "Lily", then I capitalize....but I rarely sign my posts anyway.

My username is not a name. It is a programming term which is not written with a capital letter.

Besides that, the idea of capitalizing names is something very specific to language and culture. There are languages that do not capitalize anything at all (like lojban).

It really depends on the name. I capitalized mine because it's easy to read that way.
