Not a single mark on this body, but I try not to think of them as 'lame', different strokes for different folks.

What is a bit disconcerting is the fact that I do find untattooed females to be more my thing, and I couldn't even tell you when the last time was that I saw an untattooed gal - it has probably been years. The body is a work of art in itself to me.

IMHO, tatooing the human body [short of medical reconstructive purposes after a mastectomy] is akin to pasting adverts over a church's stained glass windows. the body is a temple to creation. if this were the adult section, i'd suggest a truly funny idea for a tattoo that i bet nobody ever thought of.
anyways, now that tats are old hat, people have even begun going way past mere piercings and are actually getting implants of funny bumpy things under their skin, as though they were trying to look like a lizard or some other creature.

I currently have 8 tattoos, and it is not difficult to cover them with clothing. But if I were to be independently wealthy and could more or less keep to myself in my mansion---I would have a full body suit tattoo.

They are lame and cliquish.

Feel free to argue back, but I stick with this opinion.

No need to argue back because I doubt it will be likely anyone will change anyone's opinion anyway. What's lame for some isn't lame for others, and what you might like I might consider lame. It's all opinion.

I have tattoos and I'm well aware that it does not make me special.

It's true though. There are so many people who think they're the s**t for having tattoos. A lot of people try to get tattoos for free or cheap. Originally you had to do something to earn your tattoos (be part of the navy, or as a rite of passage. a real rite, not "oh my band got signed") but now people can't even f*****g sit still for a tattoo. They want you to put numbing agent on it. You're supposed to earn your tattoos. Whether it's feeling the pain or paying a full price.

Tattooing is just one more part of human life that has been exploited. Much like sex, food, water, etc.

I find myself wondering if people had more control over their lives, would less people get tattooed? I think the answer is yes. For the people who get tattooed now who would not have gotten tattooed even...10 years ago, let alone 20-40 years ago, I think it's all part of being in society and not having any real control. No one gets to make their own destiny anymore really. It's all regulated and whatnot. So I think that's one of the reasons that more people get tattooed now. It's a superficial way to show that you MIGHT be in control. Also, all the tv shows with tattooing. They give people a very unrealistic look into the tattoo world.

I wish there were less egotistical people getting tattooed. Everyone wants a trophy for everything though. Going out to a yummy lunch? Post it on facebook so everyone can pat you on the back!

Any tattooer who is worth their salt is waiting on the day when all the fuckwad jocks quit getting tattooed. If it weren't for the tv shows there wouldn't be so many ret*ds walking about with infinity tattoos and football logos printed on their skin.

The people who really give a s**t about the tattooing world don't get their opinion heard unless you go looking for it. The mass of people who get tattooed by the mass of "tattooers" are a joke. They don't know anything about tattooing and they give the rest of the world a false representation of the people who really do care about their craft, who are humble and don't want a trophy for living their lives.

I think they're generally lame. My friend had one that I liked the idea of though. He had a crappy tattoo, and when he was in the army, he got it tattooed over with a plain black square.

I think that would be worse. A black square is like anti-art.

or at least something closer to flesh-colored. I wonder if anybody has ever had a bar code tattooed onto their flesh?

I associate tattoos with trashy people because in my experience there seems to be a very strong correlation between having obvious tattoos and being trashy. To me all tattoos look rather ugly. Probably I have been psychologically conditioned to feel in that way. I won't judge people simply based on whether they have a tattoo or not but I always happened to mix better with tattoo-free kinds of people.

I think it would be neat to have a tattoo of the 1965 Kinks logo, than again my body is my temple, so I won't do that.

Actually, plenty of temples have been permanently painted and carved ;)
