Circular logic. Why does everyone say that Euler's identity is wonderful? It's because they say that it is made up of fundamental constants! You can't then go and say that pi is a fundamental constant because it turns up in Euler's identity.

Really? I can't think of anything
more arbitrary than the fact that we have ten fingers. If we quoted pi's decimal representation to aliens with 11 fingers, they wouldn't understand why we thought it was special.

Yes, I have the same issues with Tau Day. However, I support the existence of Tau Day. My hope is that the existence of Tau Day will cause people to think about the fundamental issues, so that they will understand that both days are silly.
