as h.l. mencken so colorfully said, "i hate sports the way a person who likes sports hates common sense."

I hate the money grubbing organization, and I'm not that interested in sports, but there are a few events that interest me, mainly gymnastics and dressage, and a few others. Mostly it's about my interest in grace, which I admire a lot, having little of it myself. But I don't have television for the past few years, so I'm not seeing any of it anyway.

The olympics are happening?
That was my first thought seeing this thread. Shows you how aware of the world I am.

I'm not good at sports, so I have little interest, but sometimes things made me watch, mainly because it happened to be on the TV at the time I noticed what was on the TV.

I don't think anyone here was preaching for others to hate the olympics CR. People are just expressing their different view points about them. Just like you have when you have mentioned the aspects you like about them. Don't take criticisms of your interests to heart, everything is subjective after all :)

I enjoy the physical sports, had a look at the judo and some of boxing. Wrestling I'm mad about but I didn't get to see any of those at the olympics. Everything else that was on is pretty boring to me. At least my home country Britian came 3rd. Pleased about that.

I liked the gymnastics bit. It's unfortunate the NBC broadcasts were so lopsided in their televised presentation. You'd think there were no other countries competing but Americans! Incidentally, I had to buy a new TV to watch it because my 30 year old one finally crapped out.

i hope you got a good one. my tv is primo but i can only afford to watch via large antenna atop a tall tree 'cause basic cable in my part of the country costs over $50 a month. :hmph:
