I'll just say I ranked myself considerably lower here than I would if I were comparing myself to the general population, and leave it at that.

72% of people so far decided they were somewhere in the top 50%, and a full 20% ranked themselves in the top 2%, so it looks like you're exactly right.

Actually, the responses *could* be genuine, due to another type of bias: Self-selection.

Posters see a thread called "How intelligent are you?" on WP. Now who would be more likely to post in the thread? People with average or low intelligence? Or people with an opportunity to show off their MENSA level smarts? My money is on the latter...

The concept of IQ is difficult to apply to individuals with Aspergers Syndrome, however, because it is quite common to see discrepancies in Verbal IQ and Performance IQ scores in individuals with AS.

In other words, if WP members are arriving at their IQ scores based on the various on-line Raven tests (and not official Wechsler full IQ tests), they may get misleading results.

i think true intelligence does not question itself.
true intelligence "knows" and and looks for more things to know and does not stick around the mirror to calculate itself.

I have a question.

Does the top 2 percent mean that you're more intelligent than 98 percent of people or does it mean that you're not as smart as 98% of people?

I wouldn't mind testing again...

...but it almost doesn't matter - people enjoy treating me like an idiot, ignoring advice or conclusions (or stealing them and claiming the credit.)

Being socially awkward and/or "slow at the draw" gives the appearance of stupidity when, in reality, I'm processing a ton of data most "normies" never even consider. When my response/decision does come, it's usually based on a lot more data than the quick-thinkers who based theirs on emotion, errors, incomplete data or favoritism.

I'm defiantly not book smart but I'm intelligent enough to know that learning should be a lifetime process that no one can ever master because no one knows everything thou lots think they do.

I'm not very intelligent. But a person don't have to be intelligent to be gifted or have a special skill.
