Would you -- if you don't mind -- care to "briefly" tell us how? I'm a cat owner and you've got me interested! :)

My father was trying to kill my mother and I and at that exact moment Gopher thought that my dad would look better with the skin removed from his face. My mom went in the other room and locked the door until my grandparents came home.

One word:

Lassie.

The cat also saved Lassie, that cowardly dog was shaking in the corner hiding behind my mother and I.

Cartoon dogs are cooler than cartoon cats (In general)
Real cats are cooler than real dogs (In general)
But I really LOVE wolves and there are some cartoon cats I like!

I identify with the person who said a cat saved her life. I think Samantha did that for me.

I prefer dogs to cats, no question.

However, the last of our four pets, Molly, is an old, blind, and deaf 17-year-old cat who nevertheless will show you a lot of affection... when she feels like it. Which is pretty much the difference between cats and dogs - dogs give their affection freely, and care for the members of their pack without question, whereas cats can take or leave your attention, and are often happier out of your company.

wow, ahayes...

dogs are loud, sociable, loyal and easy to hold and love.
cats are quiet, unsociable, hard to train, and easy to hold and love

i despise it when my dog randomly starts barking. it drives me insane but he's also nice to play with.

the cats don't always want to play around. they tend to get angry and bite when they're tired.

The way you have couched the poll is biased. What's wrong with a "yes" and "no". Why does every cat lover have to click that they are an "old lady."

Cats. I love the smell of my cat, and hate the smell of dogs. My cat is mostly independent, like me, and very quiet. (Although she's at my side now wanting to lick my hands as I type.)

What option do you click if you like BOTH?

I like both for different reasons :) I adore dogs, but I'm not allowed to have one unless it is a service dog (which I technically qualify for), but I have two cats. I love my kitties.

In light of this: cats are cool too

Excerpts from a Dog's Daily Diary:

8:00am Dog food! My favorite thing!

9:30am A car ride! My favorite thing!

9:40am Walk in the park! My favorite thing!

10:30am Got rubbed and petted! My favorite thing!

12:00pm Lunch! My favorite thing!

1:00pm Played in the yard! My favorite thing!

3:00pm Wagged my tail! My favorite thing!

5:00pm Milk bones! My favorite thing!

7:00pm Got to play ball! My favorite thing!

8:00pm Wow! Watched TV with my master! My favorite thing!

11:00pm Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!

Excerpts from a Cat's Daily Diary:

Day 683 of my captivity: My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre
dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other
inmates and myself are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although
I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must
eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that
keeps me going is my dream of escape.. In an attempt to disgust them,
I once again vomit on the floor.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their
feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it
clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made
condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. The
audacity! There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices
tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event.
However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that
my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what
this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try
this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and
snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released --and
seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously ret*d! The
bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the
guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. The
captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell,
so he is safe....... For now....

I just got this in my email! I was going to post it here, but you beat me to it! Cats are cool!

I like dogs better. They're more personable and cuddly.
