Watching cats kill mice chills me to the bone marrow, and not because my nickname is mouse.

You can annoy mice by using devices that emit a sound that only they can hear. That can make them go away, but isn't completely effective.

I don't like seeing trapped rodents or poisoned rodents. Guess I'm just lucky I've never had to deal with an infestation myself, because I have this daft sentimental spot for mice and rats, which I know is hypocritical for a meat-eater like me. I still wouldn't like to live with them in my house, but I'd try non-lethal things before killing them.

I can put up with the cat doing it as long as I don't have to watch, but then they present the dead little critters to you as trophies afterwards. I'm torn between disgust and 'what a great hunter that kitty is'. I had a cat once who gave me a dead rat for my 18th birthday,

I've also got a non-lethal trap in addition to the spring traps (and glue traps). A couple of years ago we had a real plague of them after the farmer harvested his maize in the field next to our house. In one night the non-lethal trap caught three mice. Or to be more accurate, it contained one very fat mouse and the remains of the other two mice it had eaten! I must have caught Hannibal Lector mouse! I never knew they could be cannibals.

We had a stray cat that lived at our works and we used to watch it playing with the moths and catching the mice.

She did used to present what she had caught to us sometimes. She was part of our little family.

My parents house would get mice occasionally. It's kinda in a rural area, the guy behind them owns horses & grass got kinda tall sometimes, my parents are into gardening but gardens are kind overgrown, there's a compost in back the house, & my dad's shed is old & torn up so there's lots of things that would attract mice. Traps got set up after a mouse was seen inside of there was evidence. Sometimes the mice were able to get the bait off but that was usually because the trap wasn't as sensitive &/or a different bait was used. We usually baited with a dab of peanut butter & that would kind of stick to the trap some & seemed to attract the mice. Those traps worked aLOT better than the one in the game Mouse Trap because that never worked when we played the game

Dad also set out poison in the attic & dad's shed which got rid of the 1s in there when dad would actually get around to setting it out. & we also had a couple bait stations in key locations in the yard. They're boxes with a small hole so mice & rats could come in but not bigger animals like cats & dogs & a block of poison would be mounted inside. A baby possum got in there a couple times but dad should of rebated the station a long time before then so the possums were probably fine except extremely stubborn to get out of there.

1ce when I was a kid mom managed to trap a mouse under a bucket in the utility-room. The bucket was slid to the corner & left there for a couple weeks to make sure the mouse was dead.

A cheap/free live trap for mice is a large wine bottle with big mouth set on its side with food in it. They can climb in when its on its side, but can't climb out.

We lived near a farm when I was young and we did get mice but I just used to like watching them. At night when it was quiet they would come out to play. I never told anyone.
