Who else refuses to shop on "BLACK FRIDAY"?

This will be only the second year that Black Friday has happened in Britain, and already people are revolting against it. Here's a link to an article:

Not only do I refuse to shop on Black Friday, I refuse to shop at all. I enjoy the holiday season, theoretically, but in actuality, I spend it alone with my cats like any normal day.

I really do not celebrate any holiday nor do I celebrate my (or anyone's) birthday.

Overall, I find it silly, especially considering that a part of the economy of The United States is fueled by one, primary holiday-- Christmas. Shameful.

I *love* to do my needed shopping on Super Bowl Sunday at around 3pm for that very same reason, sort of like your strategy in reverse. I think this Friday I might just visit a park I've always avoided because it's always swamped with hikers who walk while talking loudly on their phones - Thank you, Varelse!

I think the idea of shopping in hordes is idiotic. I shop over a few months or after the holidays. There are always deals and sales going on. I also like to shop during the hours that shops are less busy. Plus, if you ever worked in retail, you'll know it's just a way to get rid of the old to make room for the newer and better items. We put so much crap out during Christmas when I worked at Toys R Us. Old games. Unwanted toys that were in excess and that no one cared to buy. Mark down on electronics that were going out, but soon to be replaced by more advanced versions. It's a big scam that people just fall for.

Plus, I really don't want to be around that many people.

I went out last night to buy some See's chocolate--around here it is only available during the holiday season at one of the malls.

Good thing you went *before* Friday! I once tried to explain to friends in the upper Midwest about the lusciousness & perfect chocolate of See's. They really had nothing that I could even compare it to. So I brought some with me the next time I visited. For years I'd get requests (this was long before Sees had a website). Then again, they didn't have oranges in the winter back then, either. Don't forget, the rum nougat & the tipperary are only available in the cooler months...

I sort of think of it as black plastic Friday. Millions of brand new laptops in my price range, practically none of which will run Linux, which is the only reason I need upgrades.

I try to buy good reading for the academics in my family and fun things wherever it comes to mind, none of that is really sold much of anywhere with a parking lot.

I understand she was about the size of "Mrs. Butterworth", and I think I would be also if I could make chocolates that delicious. My favourite box is the all dark with soft centres, even though I have to give away the coconut ones because I don't have enough remaining teeth to chew it up.

Fortunatly we have a year-round See's store on Colorado Blvd. so I don't have to wait until XMAS shopping season.

My mom's side is Bavarian & a bit Swiss, easily half of our gift spending is on 70+% dark chocolate. After %80 I'd say it's pretty much a drug in its' own category.

I don't need to buy things. I'm perfectly content with what I have as long as I have a shelter, electricity, gas, and water. I don't even have internet at my house or a computer. I refuse to shop on Black Friday because there is no purpose in doing so, I'd still be spending more money than is
necessary no matter what deals there are. not saying that eventually I might want to buy a computer or something, but for now I am content avoiding the whole situation.

The other day I was on Commercials I Hate.com and saw some ad that was about "ThanksGETTING". After the first few seconds of shock and disgust had passed, I went right to the video for the ad on YouTube and said how this was a sign the world was really ending and wished everyone a miserable Christmas and a crappy New Year.

I don't shop on Black Friday.
I don't like shopping.
I don't like crowds.
I don't like greed.
Most of the "deals" are for things I wouldn't buy anyways.
Most of my shopping is done online because the things I'm interested in for either myself or other people are specialty items that aren't found in local stores.
Or, I make homemade gifts.

Because its filled with brain-less idiots who won't hesitate crushing others' bones just to get 20% off the latest "cool" thing everyone wants.

They have Black Friday online too, but I never went into the stores. I shopped on Cyber Monday too, I need to go shopping, but I'm saving my money.

I got 20% off on an entomology textbook while shopping online because I ordered it on black friday. What's not to like? Oh, middle-aged women punching eachother over the last pair of discount stretch-pants? Yeah, none of that, thanks.
