I'm not so good at asking questions.

As an instructor that has taught in a college setting, I would always entertain questions submitted by email. Not all professors will do that, but I believe that your university should have some social services avaiable to help you with that. I urge you to look into it. Go get 'em!!

Who says physics aren't spiritual in nature? That's a bit of a limited and/or prejudicial point of view.

Not riding you about your beliefs. But it reminds me of the reverse arguments that try to deny spirituality because it can't be proved by way of science.

What if they really aren't disengaged philosophies, but instead not understood as to what that connection can be?

Simple thought experiment (See? Physics approach):
There is confirmation of quantum entanglement. Basically any two quanta can be 'entangled' so that any change on one quanta is immediately 'felt' by the other regardless of distance.

Now, apply the 'spiritual' aspect:
That information is transported immediately. What all that information is, is not known or understood at this time. So, what if part of that information is being picked up subconsciously and therefore is the reason for 'precognition' or that unexplained thing about 'knowing what another is feeling' at great distances.

So, maybe there is way that they are just two sides of the same coin? What if we are just really ants trying to evade the boot and do not see the larger issues on a much grander scale?

Or how about the fact that according to physics, there is no loss of energy or mass. It is just simple converted. Sound, color, radio and microwave (all the way up that spectrum) are all just energy excited to different frequency levels. Matter can become energy and matter is just very slow, cold energy.

Entropy is not loss of energy or mass. It is the loss of organization.

I have no race prejudices, and I think I have no color prejudices or caste prejudices nor creed prejudices. Indeed I know it. I can stand any society. All that I care to know is that a man is a human being--that is enough for me.

What is love? How can such an universal spirit be defined by just one little word?
