Why don't we call them "meeces," like Jinks the Cat used to call Pixie and Dixie Mouse?

I wonder what it would be in African languages? I wonder if it would be something like "the hand thing with buttons that makes computers work" or something? in at least one African language, the definition of "faucet" is "the tube sticking out from the wall with a knob on it that spits out water when you turn the knob."

I can say it in sign language.
Dominant hand outstretched, palm facing downwards, slightly cupped.
Lift and lower index finger twice.
For the plural form, move the hand formation to the right while performing lifting and lowering the index finger several times.

For the iMac computer, the "mouse" became a hockey "puck." If I remember correctly, Steve Wozniak joked by calling them "meeses."
