People seem to take me even LESS seriously when I try to sugar-coat what I say. At least I know that when they react negatively to what I say -- even when I am only repeating what they have already said -- I know that I have come close to the truth.

Those people want to be told that they are nice people, good people, wonderful people; they want to hear how they were in the right for doing something wrong; they want to believe that they live in a perfect world where everyone approves of their actions no matter how deeply they have hurt themselves by their own actions.

And when I don't fulfill their unrealistic expectations, they turn on me and tell me that their misery is somehow all my fault.
