Is it really worth keeping everyone isolated?

I wouldn't be surprised if the lockdown ends up damaging or destroying more lives than it saved.

Personally, I've all but stopped exercising, gained a ton of weight, blood pressure way up, haven't seen a doctor in months.

Emotionally, I'm isolated. A psychiatrist whom I chat online with on occasion says that her clients' physical and mental hygiene is awful now.

And the end of the lockdown is nowhere in sight :|

I hope your wife survives this.

Thank you. It would appear we both have COVID at this time. We're awaiting the test results (tested Thursday) but results seem to be slow in the US. She has had some difficulty with breathing off and on the last few days, but nothing that has made her go to the hospital. Hopefully that continues to be the case.

Yet no one mentions the massive increases in suicides caused by the lockdown.

I’m so sorry to hear this. May both your cases be mild and pass through with with minimal distress.

Back to the OP’s issues. Many social groups, church services and so on are online and have been for months.

As far exercise goes most lockdown rules have an exercise exception. You can take your daily walk or jog. If you doing it by yourself with the exception of a place like Manhattan you are not going to come within 6 feet of someone. Masks are usually not necessary. By me people will move out of the way of each other to keep social distancing.

As far as doctors go are there really still places where no doctors visits, no elective surgery is still going on? We were an epicenter and I had necessary follow up visits and tests postponed for a few months but they have been back for a while now.

Off Topic:
Personally I find this semi normal semi lockdown place we are at in some ways more unnerving then back in April when the shutdown at its height. Then with the virus running rampant was it was scary and the sudden shutdown was a shock. Now the situation is a lot of uncertainty, a lot of grey areas. Are we loosening up too much and starting a process that will get us back to April or worse, is there herd immunity or has the virus weakened to the point where it is like a bad flu now and we should treat it that way? Is the virus is like one of those horror movie characters you think they are dead, the movie is ending, then they jump out the bushes and start slashing, or maybe we are past the peak. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

They say, all the the social distancing tape on the floor, people taking your tempeture or asking you screening questions, zoom gatherings,is the new normal, they are used it now. It is not normal to me at all, it is living in some sort of sci fi disaster movie.

Wow, that's scary.

I hope both of you make full recoveries.

Dear Steve1963,
I hope for negative test results or quick recovery for you and your wife.
Regarding the initial topic;
We MUST sacrifice to save lives.
We do not know who will be affected (infected?), of those, we do not know who will die.
We have lost infants, healthy children, strong healthy teenagers and 20-30-year-olds, and yet, worldwide, 4 over-100-year-olds have survived. Centenarians?
Numerous seniors have survived; this virus does not behave like other diseases; the ONLY known solution for the individual is avoidance.
There are ALWAYS bad reactions, even deaths, with a new vaccine.
The nightly news is not reminding us of that, and should.
I am right there with the depression and anxiety and painful loneliness; this is so miserable to experience.
But this is the only way to stay alive.

There are 1.4 million people in nursing homes in the usa.
There are 40.3 million people over the age of 65.
This is in the USA and I'm not sure where you are located.

I tried to post links to this information but kept getting redirected to some sketchy site that wanted me to download stuff. You've got google.

I'm in Victoria Australia. The consensus is our state is over-reacting and lockdown hasn't worked - they are not consulting with health officials but instead using modelling that seems to be feeding into some type of idea that we need to living in our homes till a vaccine becomes available.
