unfortunately, quite often. especially on the speakers at fast food restaurants i'm called "sir".

At least it's just your voice. I work at a fast food restaurant as a drive-thru cashier and everyday, I get a customer that says "Thank you, sir" after they see what I look like.

I guess it's the unisex uniform I'm wearing and the fact I don't wear make up....at least that's what I keep telling myself.

My name is Tim, and someone mistakenly thought my name was Kim.

Once, when I was typing at work and a delivery
driver walked in and started saying 'Excuse me,
dear..'
Don't know which of us was more embarrassed.
I keep my hair shorter these days.

have had this happen since......forever.
grew up with very little awareness of people and as a result, didn't know there was 'male' and 'female',didn't dress or do anything stereotypical to femaleness, just did whatever wanted/was comfortable with.
when young-mainly up to junior school age, wore as little clothing as possible-that was just a pair of dads' comfortable boxers and a pair of white ghost busters shorts, nothing else, hair was short, was always assumed to be male then.
have had regular abuse for not matching moronic peoples' standards of what girl is.
am still think the same about gender-why should there be male only or female only rules on things?
am not going to stop wearing boxer shorts and other 'male' clothing if it makes am comfortable, cannot care less if people think am male or female.

YES. When I was a kid, I had really really really short hair ( I cut my hair a lot due to sensory issues and my mom took me to get it to look decent). People would refur to me as "I bet he likes ice cream." (I was even wearing a pink shirt). Or point to me when my parents are buying bed and say, "That one he's on is on 50% off!" It drove me nuts and I would scream, "I am a GIRL!" to them and then they would get all embarassed and appologize to me up and down. I guess they thought I was on chemo or something. Not helpful when your name is "Jesse". Now the problem is people think I'm 16 when I am in fact almost 21.

It happened today, at Wal-Mart… I know I don’t have the most feminine facial features and I have short hair to add to someone mistaking my gender, but could people please look at the whole picture before assuming I’m a male and blurting out, “Excuse me, sir.” when they almost bump into me. When you look at the whole picture you can clearly see that I am in fact a female. Or maybe I should be grateful he instantly didn't focus his attention on my chest. :|

Strangely enough, I had the face of a girl as a child, but nobody thought I was one.

I literally paused here...I thought you WERE a girl.
