My wife is related to one of the "witches" from the Salem Witch Trials. I used to visit Salem when I lived in Massachusetts. That place is cool!

Neat discussion.

I have a distant relative on my Dad's side who was awarded for single handedly capturing a number of Confederate soldiers. Also on Dad's side am related to Elihu Yale (founder of Yale Uni) and King Aelfred the Great (was King of England in the 800s). Also my Dad is famous in the Psychology world and in general in business and has published two books.

i like geneology and have my family history traced back pretty far on both sides. lots of interesting ancestors, but FAMOUS?

well, i am related to royalty if you go WAY far back, most of europe- england, france, scotland, spain, denmark, norway-- and before when there weren't todays countries so much.

and philo farnsworth, who invented the television, is my great-great-grand uncle. Philo was the oldest child and Stephen was the 3rd child in the family. Stephen is my direct line and he was in charge of a company that crossed the plains in the 1800s.

Hmmm, I'm intrigued.

Is it safe to assume he is an American-born player?

Yes, it is. I don't want to give away too much info because I like to keep my anonymity. He has the same last name as my maiden last name...it's not a common spelling of a slightly common last name.

My grandmother was the first person (apart from members of the band) to hear the song 'Golden Brown', by the Stranglers, one of the members, (Dave Greenfield, I think) lived opposite her, and asked for her opinion on this new 'commercial' track. She liked it, and, therefore the Stranglers released it as a single.

Wow they're a pretty cool band. :dj:

I don't know who I'm related to, my Grandfather (On my dad's side) was adopted into a Canadian family from his Irish family I believe. I think his last name was Hannah.
