Mostly good, but drastically needs improvement.

I feel like I'm living inside a teenagers brain.
Screwing eating and pleasuring yourself. No regard for others.
The most optimistic thing I've heard recentlly is lierally were a young country so maybe we could grow out of it.
I see the I just got to be free to be me twisted into I can afford to be selfish.

Internationally I think America should press the military advantage it has right now. Nice guys dont get to be rulers. Politics is about furthering your own team. You don't see a football team being nice to its opponents.

OR
I think America should become a police state. We are children the goverment is our parents we have abused our freedoms and they should be taken away. We have clearly shown we cannot handle the power of choice. We choose playing the lottery eating cheeseburgers and watching TV.

OR
We should follow the examples of humanitarians. Train our troops to be healthcare providers and construction builders. The problem with being on top is trying to maintain it. Let somone else be the superpower. We have nothing to fear from Nazis rising again, theres not enough money in it. Ease off slow down.

I see a lot of problems . What worries me most is I see the US following what I experienced in Taiwan a decade ago. A complete death of creativity in our younger generation.

Why am I here?
Evertime I try to leave it doesnt work out.
I don't have much and I certainly don't like the city i live in because of its distain for the arts and lack of outdoor recreation. But at least I know my way around here and that gives me some comfort.

Sometimes I dream of being a bean farmer in a small place somewhere. Live would be tough but meaningful and I wouldnt be afraid of a nation turing my children into monsters.

Well, where to start?

I've never saluted the flag, not even once. It makes me really, really uncomfortable that they bring "God" into the whole thing. I believe in separation of church and state as America was meant to be, and I can't bring myself to promote otherwise. So I guess one might call me unpatriotic. I don't agree with a lot of things I see going on in our country. I don't trust our government. Speaking from a place where I have health problems (physical and mental) and no health care, I can say I'm really concerned with the health care crisis. I often think of moving to Canada because of it. George Bush embarrasses me. I can't believe that guy represents this entire country. It's completely beyond me. I also have major issues with the way drug addiction is criminalized rather than being viewed as a real illness and truly treated. I hate prohibition. Obviously I'm glad that I wasn't born in some third world country. I can say that I'm thankful that my front yard is not a war zone. I just don't know if I could ever say that I'm actually "proud" to be an American.

Unless of course Ron Paul got elected. In which case it's "America, F*** Yeah!" (Who's seen Team America?!)

I was borne an american but I think I am not an american.
I am more of a citizen to the world.
Maybe if I was blinded more by patriotism, then I would care.

America Is Not The World.

You can be sarcastic about this or serious about this, I don't care. I'm just curious to know what Americans (or US residents) think about their country. Do you love America or hate it? Why? Are you patriotic? If you could sum it up in one word, what would it be? Just post anything and everything you want about this country, good or bad.

The only thing I ask is for non-Americans not to post. Thanks. :)

What do I *think* about it:
Love or Hate:
Why:
Are You Patriotic: Yes
One Word: Weak

To misquote Churchill - "It's the worst country, with the exception of all the others"

The money's good, and I can say things like the above without the Mukhabarrat, Savak, ISI, SVR (nothing to do with Stevie Ray Vaughn..;), MI5, Interhamwe, etc., starting a file on me (for that we need the NSA...;)

nothing really
it's coincidence

i'm not a buddhist, but i read various religions
and like it
it said something like,
national pride interferes with .. the ability to see the world or something
basically if you get to involved in that sense you may forget that you are a human like everybody else
i wish i could find it

culture and what you have and how you live and what not
seem to be acquired randomly
it's not that i dislike america
but i am not into obsessing over it
i generally see the earth as the earth and not divided
plus i'm not really into being a part of anything

That makes sense, how interesting. Maybe that's why even though I hate some things about America, I am very patriotic: it's the one thing I can connect to and be a part of in this world, since I'm not included in much else...Nobody can exclude me from my own history, haha. But the idea you're talking about sounds like a wise one to adopt.

America is the kind of place I wouldn't want to move away from, because they might find some random reason not to let me back in, if I decided I hated living in my new country.

I know that lots of other countries all over the world have certain specific better things than America does, but you've usually gotta endure more crap than here to get those things. I mean, I think it would be cool living in Australia, Israel, the UK, and perhaps Holland. I'm part Dutch, part English/Irish/Scottish/Welsh, and half Jewish, so I often wonder, would I experience a special kinship to some of the people in my "native lands"? Would I bump into relatives, and perhaps not even know it, but somehow we'd mutually sense it? Those kinds of thoughts... Would I find some Old World simple small-town girl to settle down with in a farmhouse and start an Aspie family? I don't know, I honestly don't know. That's what makes it so cool to think about. 8) I'm the kind of person that would want to buy a plane ticket to Europe or Israel without even planning much of it out, except my basic safety -- just go, and do whatever: no itenerary whatsoever! :D :D :D :D :D

Escapism: that's where it's at! :P

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.
