People get entered into the sex offender registry usually because they are sex offenders. :roll:

Not all registered sex offenders are child molesters or serial rapists. I don't know about your state, but in Michigan, I was checking the registry, and most of the crime descriptions are so incredibly vague, it seems like you could get a record just for shouting "penis" really loud in public, not to mention taking a leak in an alley.

Peeing in an alley is not a sexual offence. It's public urination, comes with much lesser penalty.

What about a false charge of "sexual harassment"?
Or, since it is generally enough defined, a "true" but petty charge?

If the charge is without merit, the legal system should be able to reveal it as such. Any criminal charge is a demerit against the applicant.

The boolean value of the charge is a variable,
but what is constant is the fallibility of the legal system.
