I lived in Grønland, Carl Berners plass, Grûnerløkka, Holmlia
and Stovner to name a few - I was not pleased at all! hehe
One thing i like about it, Oslo is a capital but it is tiny, doesn`t
take long to drive from one side to the other so its easy to
have a overview of the streets and names in ones head.
The countryside is right up my alley, sweet place long distance
between the people and alot of forrests to disappear into
And no one sees or cares no matter what i do
And if i should feel the need for some citylife (not that that actually
happens) its just an hours driving to the capital.

Lived in apartments in the city, now i live in a huge house with a huge
garden and barn and stuff, and it cost me 1/4 of what a city house of the
same size would cost If i had used that cash to buy something in the
city i would have gotten a 40 square meters two room apartment or
something

I know alot of people think "uh, the countryside, sooo boring, nothing happens".
But i think more like "hehehe wow people really dont know that they are missing
by not being here now". alot going on, one just have to look at the
right places

Thanks for both of your replies. I still want to visit Oslo though but now I know not to get my hopes up about the place

I've heard about the high disability checks in Norway. They are a lot lower in America, barely enough to live on and not enough to pay for travel.

Can either of you tell me about Lillehammer?

Oslo migh be nice to visit, its not like theres piles of crap everywhere
guess its a matter of taste - but for me, being a nature boy, it got more
and more annoying the longer i lived there - so one day i packed my s**t
and ran for the countryside not looking back

Lillehammer...well, its a few miles to my north, but nothing special comes
to mind about it, i always drive straight through, never bother to stop there.
It was the olympic-thing but that not so interesting now. Maybe someone
else knows some exciting facts about it, i`m drawing a blank.

I have been to Lillehammer many years ago. I dont remember to much, just that we were at Maihaugen ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maihaugen ), a nice outdoors museum. I am afraid I can say so much about the place, dont know to much. As it is inland area, the winters are FAR to cold for my taste...

yes its that Maihaugen-thing, that nice.

But I`ve been thinking and not one interesting thing about Lillehammer has
come to mind so..i suggest just to forget it not much going on

I won't make Lillehammer a priority then. It looks so neat in pictures though

Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim. All those are nice (and in that order, I would say).

Are Stavanger and Trondheim rainy too or just Bergen?

I know that Oslo has a Viking ship museum but besides that, what other places have good Viking stuff?

I am not really sure about the amount of rain in the other two. I guess Stavanger is also relatively rainy. All three are coastal, so its likely to be more rain than in for instance Oslo. Im not to much into where they have viking stuff. I think there are something in the county of Vestfold.

The viking museum in oslo is great, been there many times,
and theres other museums close by. And theres also a great
tech museum there.

21,5 meters long, 5 meters wide and weighs around 11 tons

The viking lies in a very beautiful part of Oslo. There is also a museum of cultural history - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norsk_Folkemuseum - in the vicinity. About 5-10 minutes walks away you will found the Fram museum - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fram_Museum - presenting Norwegian polar history. Next to the latter, you will find the Kontiki museum. I havent seen them myself, but they are quite well known. You can just surf around on via catwegories on the bottom for more info about vikings.
