Reproduction is a right but that doesn't mean it's our job to take care of them. Maybe these morons on welfare would reproduce less if given fewer financial incentives to do so. Have you ever thought of that?

No. Look at Darfur. Rampant overpopulation and no means to buy, grow, or otherwise produce their own food.

Reproduction isn't just a right; for some, it's an obsession!

^^if reproduction is a right then social service for people who are genetically impaired/disabled should not be a right but a duty

simple logic, as implied by you.

There are many cases of handicapped people receiving government-paid care for their children. Here in the States, it's called "Welfare" and "Aid to Dependent Children" (ADC), among other programs.

Besides, haven't you heard of "Reproductive Choice" and/or "A Woman's Right to Choose"? It isn't all about abortion, you know.

So should be in the government's full power to right to tell you not to reproduce?

I am totally for, as long as they are not being encouraged to procreate, as it is, unfortunately, in some EU countries, where political correctness have gone a *tad* to far...

Perhaps we can offer them incentives to curb their population. For example, we will offer them and their immediate family fresh food and water in exchange for a vasectomy or tubal litigation.

yes, I think it should. I'm not talking bans here though, just a simple, person-to-person talk about what should *not* be done, for the sake of the society.

And I'm for it as long as they are not being encouraged (or forced) to abort, as they do in China.

Reproduction is a matter of individual choice, and this freedom to choose is thus an inalienable right. Roe v. Wade made that abundantly clear.

well, Swift had a Modest Proposal (Reincarnated as a movie, Soylent Green...;)
The problem is that we've spent too much time eliminating threats to human reproduction. Actually, things are a lot brighter than they seem. a Hundred years ago, people were having families of 10-12, or even more.

Well, the obvious solution is to bring back our natural predators. We need to vastly increase the number of lions, tigers, bears, (oh my!), wloves, soccer hooligans, and such, and introduce them into our urban environment. Maybe we could let the air out of the paramedics' tires, lock the doors to the hospital, and offer free airplane tickets for Al-queda to wherever.

you do know I'm kidding, right?...;) This always happens when I read too much Terry Pratchett...;)
