i had a dream last night that i was a hostage outside of a grocery store. i and many other people were taken captive by a very dangerous man, and we all had our hands bound up in zip-ties, on our knees on the sidewalk of a food lion. someone next to me made a motion, and i noticed that they had gotten their hands free from the bind, and as soon as i noticed that, the man who had taken us hostage did as well and beat him, then retied his hands. after that, i started working on getting my hands free, and i eventually did get them untied, and at what i presumed to be an opportune moment, i tried to rush the hostage-taker and play hero. i saw him react very quickly and pull out a long hunting knife, and right before he got the knife in me, i pulled myself out of the dream.

the craziest thing about the dream is that when i woke up, my wrists had the unmistakable feeling of being very strongly tied up. i waited a while to see if it would go away, but it didn't. kinda freaked me out, honestly.

I was in a strange room. To my left, Sonic and Shantae were hanging out together, watching Cold Case. To my right, Tom and Jerry were fighting in their usual way.

I went with the path in the middle. I walked into the Acme Labs, where Pinky and Brain were plotting their latest scheme to take over the world. Suddenly, it was Pinky that got to hit Brain into compliance.

"OH, DE DOO DA DAY!" Brain slurred as we fell unconscious. I got the first Chaos Emerald, warped back into the room where Sonic and Shantae were, and decided to ask them where the other Chaos Emeralds were. Sonic pointed towards the door with a portrait of the Godpigeon on it.

I woke up.

I have been the father of two aborted children [sixteen years apart, different mothers].

When I dream sometimes the elder one is present as a spectator holding her little brother in her arms, he will age as she has and probably come to resemble me or his mother just as the girl resembles her mother. They do not involve themselves in the events of whatever dream it is, they just watch, impassive - needless to say this is unsettling and when it started some 15 odd years ago I would wake in a sweaty panic.

These occurrences are less frequent now and are probably some form of grieving, who knows I guess it depends what you believe.

All my dreams are Weird. And I have several a night all in color, complete with sound and smell. Which is strange since my sense of smell is rather poor.

What is your definition or notion of Weird? Something that violates physical laws? Atypical actions?

weird is anything which makes you take notice and say ?WHOA!
like dreaming of chartruese flying 3-eyed pigs reciting proust while mating with flying sony aibo dogs underwater, for example.
all my dreams seem weird to me, and i am guessing it is because one dreams sans frontal lobe help, and upon waking it is the frontal lobes that are trying to make sense of it all. the recollection of being "a stranger in a strange land" is a big part of the WHOA[!] aspect of the weird dream experience.

I dreamt I went to a place where they had kids severely affected by disorders including 'Autism' and there was a table of little boys and as they panned around the table the first kid had terrible staring but unseeing eyes with dilated pupils and the next kid looked similar, but his mouth was not right, it was like a round maw with no lips until finally there was a kid with normal but sad eyes looking at me and he had a crocodile snout where he should have a mouth. And I felt great sorrow and horror and fright, which woke me up! It was totally a sh** dream :(

You could apply a Jungian approach to that dream. The way I've been told it works is you assume that you are everything in the

dream since your brain " dreamed it up". So you would describe in the first person narrative what it feels like to be a child with a

crocodile's mouth. You don't want to put too much intellectual process into it but just go with your first impressions. Interesting

things can come out of it.

Just typical worried stuff I suppose. Had a much better dream just the other night; in it my son spoke to me. Apparently I'm not the only one who dreams about my son speaking.
It f***s me off that he used to be able to speak. Well more so it just makes me sad, for a bit. Then I get over it, no use being sad, it does no good :)

i wished it were so, but no, i am not that creative, frontal lobes or no frontal lobes. but the dream illustration above, that i used as an example to answer ruveyn's query as to what constitutes "weird" is really an amalgam of some of the stranger dreams i have read on this thread, and from reading the dreams posted on www.dreammoods.com.

I was all alone. I picked up a picture of Sonic, Tails, and Shantae. It turned into a portrait of Bobby, Squit, and Pesto (the Goodfeathers).

I slowly opened the door to the next part of the dream. Right next to me was a genie lamp adorned with the Chaos Emeralds. As I examined this lamp, I noticed a girl's face inside each of the seven Emeralds. I turned the lamp around, and suddenly the face morphed into that of a monkey, a mermaid, an elephant, a berserker, a harpy, a lizard, and a mole - all for each Emerald. Once more, the faces morphed. This time, they became a picture of the Master Emerald.

Suddenly, a voice rang out. "WHAT!?" I knocked on the lamp and said, "Who are you, madam?"

"The name's Shantae," the voice barked. "Call me 'madam' and you die."

I sighed and decided to rub some dust off the lamp.

Suddenly, thick smoke came out of the lamp, and Sonic's head popped out. "You've been gypped, buzzy! Whoever you expected is somewhere else," he scolded.

I woke up.

I just woke up from a 2 hour nap and had the most intense and bizarre dream I've ever had. It followed no exact storyline, but it involved talking lesbian chimpanzees, trucks made of ground beef, purple frogs with electrodes attached to them, hot guys competing on a reality show at the beach, Marcy from Married... With Children, and my family was somehow there too.

Oh yeah, and it involved multiple instances of lucid dreaming and false awakenings. When I actually woke up, I felt confused as to whether or not I was really awake or still trapped in another segment of the dream.

No, the nap was actually quite refreshing. It's just that the dream I was having made me feel really funny after waking up. I had to pinch myself multiple times to try to reassure myself that I had woken up for real.

The weirdest one I've ever had! My conscious mind would have never come up with something so insane. There must be something crazy going on with my subconscious though...

Really? Thank you! I've been called "highly intelligent" my whole life, but I don't really feel like I'm any more intelligent than anyone else. In fact, a lot of times I feel dumber than other people, though it's probably because I don't have any "street smarts". That, and I'm blonde. :P
