That O.J. Simpson might've had a condition called CTE.

Ticks are cleansed of Lyme disease bacterium when they feed on the blood of the common western fence lizard (Sceloporus occidentalis). That's why the disease isn't as common West of the Rockies.

News to me: Western Fence Lizards have three eyes, the third on the top of their head has a lens and is connected to their pineal gland.

I read today that if ten people all start smoking while in their teens, only one of them will be able to successfully quit, the rest will spend enough money on cigarettes to buy a house or several cars each, and three of them will get a deadly smoking-related disease.

I learned today that people who are desperate to find "something" that gives them hope will launch personal attacks against anyone who does not need the same "something" to give them hope.

That since 2008, many Berenstain Bears books tackle various subjects on Christianity. They are part of a series called Living Lights and published by the Christian company Zondervan.

Not if they never earn enough money to buy a house!

I learned that it's okay to write a poem out of order.

Not if the muscles smash the brain harboring the thoughts.

The "I've Got A Jar Of Dirt" remix originated from a quote in Pirates of the Carribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

I watched a video that showed just how many famous and beloved fictional characters and advertising mascots were really creepy when they were first created - The Michelin Man originally looked like something out of a horror B-movie and smoked a cigar, the early Mickey and Minnie Mouse costumes at Disneyland were not as cuddly and friendly-looking as they are today, and Mr. Clean was originally played by a live actor who was a tall bald man with an earring and wore a suit that made him resemble that Hitman game character.

But the one character that I found both disturbing and guiltily amusing was an old mascot created by Jim Henson for Wilkins Coffee named, well, Wilkins. Wilkins looked and sounded a bit similar to Kermit the Frog and was cute, cheerful, and loved Wilkins coffee. But he had a "friend" named Wontkins, whom Wilkins would sadistically abuse or murder every time Wontkins said he didn't didn't like the coffee. Poor Wontkins would get blown up, cut in half, shot onscreen, (nearly)decapitated, or just get cake shoved in his face and coffee poured on his head by Wilkins. But the ad I found the creepiest was where Wilkins and Wontkins are dressed in fencing suits, and when Wontkins says he still doesn't like the coffee they cut to Kermit-Wilkins cleaning blood(!?) off his sword, saying "Some learn, some don't." The fact they don't show the actual stabbing actually makes it more creepy. How could kids watch these commercials and not be messed up in the head? Maybe they only showed them late at night, but I don't know.

^ Sounds like the makings of a creepypasta series.

.....

'Tis an election year in Australia (who knew? :P), and among all the political articles I've been reading I came across this one new word: psephology. Apparently it's the study and analysis of how elections work. The name comes from the Greek word "psephos", meaning "pebble", which the ancient Greeks apparently used to cast votes (hmmm ... maybe that's why we say "casting ballots").

Nice to know there's a word for such a thing, in any case – and a pretty cool one, at that.

If I keep myself occupied, I don't crave energy drinks or have the urge to purchase Facebook cards. I was able to do this for 8 weeks. I haven't self-medicated with an energy drink since New Year's Eve.

You can actually make cheese out of cashews, and potatoes and carrots. I oughta give that a whirl someday.....

Yellowish horses are called 'buttercups'.
