Going to the wedding of my ex-housemate this evening up where I used to live.

She went through a lot of tough times when she was younger, and I'll be glad to see her happy.

I was about to ask you if you were in love most days, until I scrolled up and saw what you were talking about. I should read new posts in order.

I'm happy today because I completed a few of many small projects that will help me save money and resources.

For one, I wanted a less-wasteful alternative to those little packaged eyeglasses-cleaning wipes. I had been using a cloth and a bottle of lens spray, but unfortunately the bottle was not refillable and it was running out. So I bought a tube of Scope breath spray, which was just the right size for the pocket in my purse where I had been keeping such things. And sure enough, I found that the tube of breath spray could be opened and dumped out (into my mouthwash bottle, so as not to waste anything) and then rinsed and refilled with a mixture of 3/4 rubbing alcohol, 2 drops of dish soap, and the rest with water. (It was a recipe for homemade glasses cleaner that I found online, and it works well.) Now I have a system for cleaning my glasses in which the only things I will need to buy in order to maintain the system are rubbing alcohol and dish soap, which I will be buying anyway, so it's going to cost me barely anything.

I know that is a silly little tiny thing to feel satisfied about, but I love creating new systems to keep things organized in my life, and I love finding ways to waste less.

I also bought some thrift-store washcloths to use in place of paper towels, and I set up an empty wastebin with a bar resting across it, so that when I wipe up a mess with a cloth, I can hang it on the bar to drip dry. And then when all my cloths are dirty and hanging from the bar, I can drop them into the bin and take them to the laundry room to wash in their own load, with plenty of bleach, to make sure any mold and germs are killed before I use them again.

^Those are great ideas EarthToErika.

A vet told me once to use Dawn dish soap to wash my cats with so I started using it to wash my hair with too. Vinegar mixed with water makes a great hair rinse and gets any hair products like hairspray out. I heard once that some hospitals still use the vinegar and water on patients who have head lice. Makes my hair soft too. I save lots of money by using those things instead of shampoo and creame rinse.

I buy my cat food in cases, large bags and scoop kitty liter every month from Amazon and Walmart and have them delivered to my door for cheaper than what I can buy it in the grocery stores around me. I don't have to haul it up to the second floor either. That always makes me happy.

I have more things that I do to save money but I don't want to write a book here so I'll stop now.

I bought myself a Sunstar diecast Routemaster that was made in England in the 60s, today. :)

I know. I'm a bad saver.
