had the weirdest dream, was back in some kind of school, was an eager student, but sort of disconnected... having a sense of completion or graduation, i walked outside of the classroom and wandered around to other classrooms, ducked into some of them while the classes were in session. in one of them were a bunch of older adults practicing sign language while speaking orally with one another, they were challenging each other to do math problems via ASL. had never seen or heard anything like that before, and as a conscious first it was in STEREO with voices coming from left through right. then I went outside into the parking lot but there were no cars. then I awoke. there was more to the dream but my full bladder wiped the memories away. but all throughout the song "you've got a friend in me" was playing somewhere, superimposed on top of the dream as though i had mixed it in on top of the dream soundtrack.

Not the James Taylor "You've Got a Friend"? But something called "You've Got a Friend in Me"? Do you mean the theme song of the movie "Ben" of the same title (sung a very young Micheal Jackson) which has the refrain "You've Got a Friend in Me"?

Interesting imagery centered on communication, and stuff about "translating". Maybe you're frustrated about communication IRL?

all my life have failed at properly communicating, starting from the germ of a thought wiggling out from the neurons in the middle of me noodle, filtering out through my vocal production apparatus, through the air and into the ears of listeners who at best are indifferent. and the song was from the movie "toy story" and was sung by randy newman.

I had a nightmare when I was seven that still scares me because it was so primal. It was of the black and white silhouettes of my mother, father, brother, and sister. And then they started decaying and I had to watch as my family melted/dissolved into a blackish nothing. That was one of my fears when I was young, that my family would die or crumble some how. My parents got divorced Irl when I was 14 and my families been pretty fragmented since. It almost seemed like a warning of what was to come.

Yes and no. It can be problematic though. If I am very angry before I go to bed, the dreams can take a malicious intent in the product that I have to be watchful of. So, I have to take a bit of time to unwind my mind before I go to sleep when I am mad. (This was more a of problem to me when I was younger and being constantly bullied by classmates. I was in a state of constant slow rage that took many years after graduation to wear off.) Unfortunately, I have many ideas that I have had to keep to myself because of this situation. I wish I had a way of purposely forgetting them, but alas, I cannot. The best method I have figured out for my situation is a means of coding those ideas with particular songs to keep them out of the way until (or should) I ever need them. A curse of my own design if you will...

Hi, I'm curious, what does that mean? How do you do it?

It is something that I developed a few years ago quite by accident while working on a project. Basically, I concentrate really hard on developing the idea further for a period of time (about one hour) while listening to a particular set of songs over and over, usually aggressive ones work the best for this. After that, I write down the set of songs on a special list and know it will help me remember the idea if I need it later. The list only has a generic table of song orders, not what ideas the songs are connected to. That way, if I read the list, I will not automatically remember the ideas. After doing that process, I tend to not think of that idea again until I hear those songs in that order. I have no idea if it will work on other people or not. All I know is that it does seem to work for me.

That's really interesting, but why don't you just write the ideas down? I'm not being a smartass, I actually kind of get it because my brain processes information weirdly also, I'm just curious about your particular thinking.

If I write them down, I will remember them regardless on what method I try to forget them with. I am an extremely good at remembering things written down or typed out. In my field of science you always have to keep a written record of your experimental research, so it is almost second nature for me to do so. It is very tempting, but I must resist doing it with these ideas. The other reason why I do not write them down is because I do not want them to accidentally fall into the wrong hands later on and be used against others. That is the thing that I fear the most. The list of songs is meaningless to anyone else who comes across it. Trust me, these ideas are things better left alone, I wish I never had access to creating them. No good can come from them.

Many might think I am paranoid about this, but I would rather error on the side of caution. In grad school, I made the mistake of mentioning a very generic version of what one of my malicious dream ideas would be capable of to another scientist friend. He was an expert in that particular field of chemistry that this idea comes from. He stopped me in the middle of it, turned white as a sheet, said "No more!" and then had nightmares for a week afterword about it. It still bugs him to this day. His advice to me was to keep them to myself from that point forward for the protection of others. I am trying to do just that the best I can.

Just woke up from a dream that ended with me finding a friend of mine in my room—different pieces of my friend, rather.

I found bother her hands; one was bent funny and was clinging to my trumpet. I might have found her head. I found her torso and I think there was another chunk of her under a desk.

Yes, but she doesn't. Don't know why she was messing with my trumpet before she died.

Yesterday in my dream there was a person from this forum or someone who appeared for me to be this person. It was (probably) my first dream in 2015.

Hands
To dream of your hands represent your relationships with those around you and how you connect with the world. Hands serve as a form of communication and can represent authority, hate, protection, justice, etc depending on the gesture. Perhaps you need to lend a helping hand to someone. The left hand symbolizes your graciousness and your feminine, receptive qualities, while the right hand symbolizes the masculine and active attributes. The right hand may also be a pun for some decision or something being "right". If you dream that your hands are detached or see disembodied hands, then it indicates that you are not getting your point of view across. You are not being understood or someone is not understanding you. The dream may also symbolize feelings of loneliness. If you see disembodied hands in your dream, then it points to your desires to feel needed.
Trumpet
To see or hear a trumpet in your dream signifies some sort of warning or danger that you have found yourself in. It may be a way for your subconscious to get your attention.
Desk
To see your desk in your dream suggests that you are evaluating and weighing your problems. It is indicative of self-exploration and discovery. If you are at someone else's desk, then it symbolizes a lack of confidence in your own abilities. To dream that your desk is cluttered with body parts indicates that you need to prioritize and reorganize aspects of your life.
Torso
To notice yours or someone else's torso in your dream is an emphasis on your feeling.
Head
To see a head in your dream signifies wisdom, intellect, understanding and rationality. It may also represent your accomplishments, self-image, and perception of the world. The dream may also be metaphor to indicate that you are "ahead" in some situation or that you need to get ahead.
Friend
To see friends in your dream signify aspects of your personality that you have rejected, but are ready to incorporate and acknowledge. In particular, to dream about your best friend means that you need to foster or acknowledge some special quality that your best friend has.To dream that your best friend is dying or dead suggests that some aspect or quality that your best friend possess is fading within your own self.
Dismemberment
To dream that you or some projected dream object/person are dismembered suggests that some situation or circumstance is falling apart in your waking life. You feel cut off isolated and disempowered. You may also be experiencing some great and significant loss. Consider also which part of your body is dismembered as that body part may offer additional significance or needs special attention. Alternatively, the dream may coincide with some significant life change as in a new job, new school, marriage, moving, etc. You are feeling a loss of power, potential, or identity.

I had a dream that humanity were zombies, with a select few (including me) that weren't. They weren't your typical zombies, but instead they were normal-looking humans who went about their daily lives until someone did something out of place. Then there was an instant violent mob scene and they tried to kill the one who stood out.

To see someone as a zombie implies that your feelings for them is dead. You have not emotional attachment towards them.

Do you mean that you saw a particular real Wrongplanet member (whom you presumably have never met IRL, and likely dont even know what they look like IRL) appear as a character in a dream? Thats kinda what happened to me once. A particular WP member figured as a character in a dream once. A person Ive never met IRL, but I do have some sense of what they look like.
