Yeah I also get stuck on such. And no, there's only one attempt at time and then you have to sign up again. I'm having second attempt on 13.05
Oh well I suppose you can sign up as often as you want. No fee for that I hope? The costs are horrendous without that one adding to it. I think there's a bit of "jobs for the boys" in it myself. Don't know how the have-nots manage to survive these days. If you're in a city you might be able to get a bus (though that often sucks), but out in the country in the USA you can't go anywhere without a vehicle.

I just realized that handbook I was given at driving school came with one-year access to e-learning platform that has trial theory exam. Idk how I missed it. So yeah let's maybe make use of that to grind all possible answers.
That's what I did with the US citizenship exam. It was only 100 questions so I memorised everything I could, and didn't stop till there were only 4 that I didn't know very well. They only ask 10, and you can get 4 wrong without failing, so I had to know 96 to be sure of passing. Typical Aspie perfectionism, but I absolutely didn't want the hassle and expense of re-applying.

By the way I was checking on what questions I failed, and there were none related to actual driving rules and road safety. That shows how absurd it is.
Yes I don't know who decides the questions, but I'd like a word with them.
