AB, I’m trying so hard to retire that it is more work than working. I did finally take your advice and applied for social security. In fact, my first check should have been deposited yesterday. I’ll have to look. That’s the good news. Never mind about the bad financial news. That can wait for another time. Just checked my bank and yes, the social security check was deposited. Hurray!

was the SS application process very hard or involved?

My impression is that it’s not difficult once you register with the Social Security website.

You have to register with Medicare separately.

It was ridiculously easy. Like falling off a log.

That's excellent news, Blazing. You did a smart thing by opting for Social Security.

Is there a way you could cut down, and maybe "freelance" in your field?

I’m taking on a partner and training her up to take over. She’s been taking on more and more of the responsibilities. I’m also training up one more employee to act as buffer with new state regs.

There are two real killers. 1) the state keeps changing the rules and 2) the new computer system is incredibly poorly designed. Byzantine, actually. Makes everything take 10x as long.

So now, Kortie, I am inputting data into a computer, instead of actually helping anyone. At this point, your job is probably better than mine. :D :D :D

If you took deductions from Social Security, they’ll have a record of it.

You can establish an account on ssa.gov. All you have to do is prove your identity, and create your password.

Of course there was another snake I ran into today when mowing, a Coastal Taipan, but I'll leave it at that. This was after I walked over the lawn first to try and scare anything away (mostly frogs as I don't want to harm them and there's usually nothing else but insects), but apparently that one doesn't really work as I'm guessing it was in a hole. I'll run out of luck one day (kinda care for someone else here if I buy it).

Thinking about SARS-CoV-2 treatment. If me, I'd just take an OTC antihistamine at whatever it says on the box and call it a day with Omicron (something like Zyrtec or Claritin). Lecturing material for why, but mast cell stuff; it might have more benefit in older individuals though. My doctor recommends Molnupiravir as early as possible if vulnerable, and she's finding it works quite well (not much else approved is working against Omicron she's found). I actually have pretty good conversations about SARS-CoV-2 with some doctors and neurologists. The joys of Autism, I guess.

I learned that a sign of empathy is constantly checking a person how he or she is -- did she ate? Is he safe? Are you sick?

 I don't see this as empathy.
I see this as an expressive cultural and attachment thing.

Former is to do with hospitality and domestic conditioning.
Latter is more or less the conscientious bit and maybe a spark of worry over particular individual or people -- be it out of insecurity, parental instinct or even obsession.

Communication perhaps.
But nothing about wordings and strategies like negotiations.

Try not to get bit, Dill. I’d miss you.

So, if NTs don’t understand our/my minds. Then if something deep inside of me has changed, as the result of 18 months’ practice, does that mean NTs can’t see the change or even understand it were it to be explained?

I’m starting to grasp that.
