Mum fell down the stairs and may have broken her arm. I wasn't there; I was at Grandma's [who is doing well enough but not really great; at least she remembered bits of things] with daddy. Ian's driving her to the hospital. I'm staying to look after Boo.

i hope she's okay.

Update: It wasn't her arm: it was one of her ribs. She's home now.

So here is a question:

Do you think not loving yourself has an impact on ones ability to care for and feel love for others?

Yes however I wouldn't say it prevents any feeling.

i think a person who doesn't love themselves can love very deeply, but is likely not to get the best out of a relationship and will be too likely to stay if the partner is abusive.

biggles, i think raleigh was being straight with you, calling you a genius seriously and wondering why you put up with us. no insult intended.

I kinda still dont get this!? What am i putting up with? Do i come across as arrogant? Always thought us all as equals here.. No better no worse, all have our deficits but huge positives ( mine being probably oversensitive and not always understanding context)

Kinda makes me feel rather than part of something that we all have a general understanding and relation feels like i am again on the other side of the fence peering in.

you aren't arrogant. you're compassionate. i guess it's a stereotype that really smart people (such as you and me) would rather associate and find it easier to associate with folks "on their own level."

I associate with kind and caring people. IQ is so damn subjective anyway. Another Social mind bend... I come here because i can relate and can generally understand most... Yes i do get confused at times but i think that is also a consensus throughout this forum especially when we are corresponding in ones and zeros without any other real form of context. So misunderstandings can and will occur. But it doesn't mean i should be seeking people on my ''smart level'' as i have mentioned it is rather subjective. I find everyone here smart. What i do find upsetting and am guilty of myself is how most on the forum play down their potential.. I'd say from past negative treatment and therefore convince themselves as not being smart or dumb. I dont see as that being the case at all! I have been a member of many different forums for many different reasons and this forum by far is the most real, most upfront and most forgiving.. No pretense of masks to portray to others in the forum that they are something that they arent just to gain social brownie points.. I find it real and comforting here... I dont see myself as all that smart. I just have alot of time to do alot of reading on rather useless subjects...

Everyone here is unique and smart. All miracles in their own right. The odds of actually living as a human in this expanse we call the universe , defies the belief in odds... Just being alive is in itself a miracle, scientifically or/and religiously and view every human being as such, despite their pitfalls. Have never met a ''perfect'' human being yet and never will but will certainly avoid anyone that pertains they are. Life is a stage, of constant learning, constant, pitfalls, constant experiences, challenges, good and bad.. But yet we all are so focused on what people have led us to believe we have in effect forgotten our true selves...

I have things i can give to people , here and outside this forum. Yet every human being has something to give in one way or another. Always learning from each other. A collective of intelligence. Not as a singularity.

Do you, as an intelligent person, find it frustrating to be surrounded by people who constantly ask dumb questions?

I did mean it literally, but joking too, in reference to all the silly questions we were asking about zombies/vampires.

It was meant in a lighthearted way.
I had nothing judgemental or critical in mind when I wrote it.

It seems the only way to avoid these misunderstandings is to not speak at all.
