Wish they had something like that here.

Most larger city's have makerspaces if you happen to live near one, myself I live a bit outside of the city centre and I have to commute by train about 20 minutes to get there. The city is small compared to most of the larger city's in Europe or the world, it's like 600.000 people living here. And there's like 3 similar workshops to the one I went to today.

And related to this I today went to a maker space in the city with two Aspie friends of mine. We got a tour of the workshop and it was amazing!! ! They had all kinds of cool machines and tools there. Lots of space and people showed us all kinds of awesome projects they where working on. It was very inspiring. Some people even had made this into their work space making a living out if it. They even had a pro game designer there working in VR! He's made some of the art for the game Firewatch! Isn't that super cool! :D This place is perfect for me! I have already begun making plans for a special kind of table for my apartment together with one of my friends, she is probably more enthusiastic about that table than me :P proposing all kinds of cool things I could do with it. The place is open 24/7 for members and I can pay extra to get my own storage space or even an office if I'm serious about the stuff I make. I'm very happy :D

Cool! So it was a success then :thumleft:

I googled locations.
The nearest one is 5 hours away. :(

I'm feeling oddly melancholy today. I don't know why. :o

The vast distances in Australia put a lot of services out of reach for rural people.

Yes! I was so anxious yesterday and really thought this would all be a bad idea and it would all be terrible. But it went very well! Future is looking a bit brighter now. A lot of possibilities has opened up for me. If it where not for the local Aspies here telling me about the place and managing to organise a group tour there this might never have been possible for me. On Wednesday me and my friend is going back to start working on the table :)

I went for a walk and had a conversation about dogs with a neighbor. Things like that can feel good when you're isolated.

I've never been to Australia but yeah I can imagine the wast distances. I have an inner picture in my mind now of you in the Outback trying to make up fire with some sticks while some kangaroos are jumping by

I do have an Aunt living there though. But I don't plan to visit any time soon, I'm not very fond of travelling.

Things like that terrifies me 8O Talking to strangers, or my neighbours for that matter. Actually I think the neighbours scares me the most :P

Isolation is not fun though, I know all about that :(

Haha, that's not very far from the truth.
I'm not what you'd call "outback" but we have plenty of roos and cooking on an open fire is pretty common.
I do it quite a bit myself.
There's so much firewood lying around and it's free, so it makes sense.

Well actually that is not uncommon here as well. Making up fire in the wilds, only we got no roos, we do have some moose and the like though. People are even afraid of wolves around here even though we have like 5 or something (ok probably a bit more :P ) and the last documented case of a wolf killing a human happened in the 1800s.

I saw a Moose above town here with some friends earlier this year. Our concern is mountain lions.

I should have done more walkabouts lately!

Too much crunch-timing myself about work...

Me too. I've been isolated for so long, it's what I'm used to now, and conversations with people outside my immediate family make me nervous. I'm getting better about it online, at least. I used to be too timid to even post anything here - I was exclusively a lurker for several years before I finally worked up the courage to start posting. Now I don't shut up here :)
