Got rid of some trash that had been around for too long.

It's not for the first time either, if I remember right, only it was a cheeky monkey last time wasn't it? Dads can be very perceptive and to the point like that. And I've got a wonderful memory for trivia.

Well, cheeky gets and monkeys make the world go round.

Though "get" is a strong pejorative, which my AI chatbot warns me to be very cautious about using. But at least what a kid told me at school has turned out to be incorrect. He swore me blind that it meant "bastard," which would have been an own goal if a father said it to his daughter, when you think about it. But no, it means a lot of things, but it doesn't mean that. So that's allright then.

I've not heard anyone say it since I was a kid
That's why it made me laugh

I heard John Lennon sing it about Sir Walter Raleigh, on a record. And I heard Paul McCartney call him a daft get on an out-take. So it must be common in Liverpool. I also heard Alf Garnett say it to his daughter's girlfriend, on the telly, only he said "yer scouse git." So it's pronounced differently in London. I called my dad one of those when I was a teenager and Mum had to stop him belting me for it. Oh, and a teacher called a classmate of mine a great git for getting a sum wrong, and everybody laughed. Sometimes it's offensive, sometimes it's funny. It's all very confusing.
