I don't know about smoking it, but it is edible. I'm not sure why anyone would want to eat it, though - I've put my fingers in my mouth after picking dandelion flowers before, and that milky stuff in them tastes disgusting.

I remember as a kid my mother once bought a product to have on my nails to try and get me to stop biting them. It tasted exactly like that white milk your talking about. It didn't work. I got used to the taste, and could bare it.

Actually, because I was curious, I poked around, and it looks like it's perfectly safe to smoke dandelion.

I'm seeing varying reports of the effects, though. Some say it doesn't do anything, some say you'll get a mild "high" from it, and some say you'll hallucinate.
