Yelling seems like a pretty big overreaction to me, Tamaya. That must be an incredibly common mistake among people who've recently picked up a new name.

My mom yelled at me for no reason as I was eating breakfast.

Well he didn't yell in a scary way or anything like that, but he was frustrated. I felt so silly. I practised my new signature beforehand to prevent any mistakes from happening, and then I still erred.

The same happened when I was 14 and filling out a form for my first passport. My mum told me to write my name in the box without going out of the box, and I was so focused on not going outside the box that I wasn't thinking straight and wrote my nickname instead. I heard my mum sighing in despair and wondered what I had done wrong, then realised.

Just situations like this make you feel really stupid. You can't deny it or blame anyone else, you just have to say "oh dear, how stupid of me, oh I'm so sorry, I wasn't thinking..." while they're going "for christ sake, can't you do anything right?"

Someone asked me how old I was once and I went blank and said, "I don't know."

Sorry you felt embarrassed.

Anxiety

Gender dysphoria. I'm glad I have the body type of Augustus Gloop. People are always questioning my gender when they're within earshot of me. I just tell them that it shouldn't make any difference in 2025.

Nearly took my left eye out setting off the fireworks tonight. Think I'm OK though

I went thrift store hopping on my way home from the clubhouse. It was hammering down rain, but I couldn't stop walking. I was dressed like a Cockney for opposite day at the clubhouse. I was acting all British seeing if people wouldn't recognize me. It went well, until I spotted a stein and than my true nature started to show. I got to the self checkout and as I pulled the stein out of the basket of my walker, I said "I'm not really British." As I walked out the door, a young man held the door open and I said "Danke" instead of "Thank you" forgetting that I was wearing the red, white and blue getup. The young man started roaring with laughter. It was hammering down with rain, more than before. The sky was really dark. I went to the grocery store and while I was sitting and resting my legs, firemen and paramedics came racing in to the store in order to coax a homeless customer out of the washroom that she locked herself into.

Anxiety

I've been having anxiety all day. I'm worried I'm developing all kinds of age related diseases like dementia. Every time I forget something, I think it's dementia. When I was in my 40s it wasn't a big deal. Now everything is an early sign of dementia. At least my sense of smell is still working, I read that's an early sign.

And then there's cancer and type 2 diabetes and heart disease. And my knees hurt. Might be from the weather, I have osteoarthritis in my knees, which I was diagnosed with in my 30s. But it's really bothering me.

I'm worried I'm losing my vision or have serious eye disease. I can't read words or numbers from several feet away. They look blurry or doubled. Sometimes a letter or number looks invisible unless I focus on it. I was diagnosed with something when I last had an eye exam. I don't remember the name of it, but it's like I have a "pit" or small depression in one eye that causes a kind of blind spot.

And I have to live in a world where people are treated like garbage when they get older. People act like your life is over when you hit 30, for crying out loud.

My legs are really hurting, and I really don't know why. I know I won't sleep well tonight because they hurt too much when I lay down.

Maybe it's some pms-premenopause thing. Being a woman sucks.

I had to get on the phone with my bank. I hate talking on the phone.
