A core member of the open mic place told me I was part of the family now. It's amazing what music can do for social progress.

Now you've got me started on taters. You can't beat 'em. My big batch has started growing a bit of white mould round the inside rim of the huge pot I keep them in. I think it's because I cut down on the portion sizes to stop myself from losing my trim tum. They had to keep longer than they used to, and they didn't quite. I took a change and had a portion the other day, carefully avoiding the mould, and I didn't get tummy ache or the runs, but I don't want to push my luck so I've just chucked the rest of them out. I suppose I could scale down the recipe, but it was nicely balanced and used one whole bag of taters so I didn't have to weigh them out. Now I'll have more work to do and I'll have a spare tater or two and no ideas about what to do with them. What's the point of having two raw taters when you've got a big tub of cooked ones in the fridge? Maybe I can trade them for a bag of grated carrots at Walmart. End of tater rant.

I think my stepdad went through a phase of growing his own spuds at one point

But I do remember him regularly bringing a sack of them home and by the time we had got to the bottom of the sack they were sprouting their own roots again

You can see why I developed an eating disorder

I tried growing taters but pests got them first and I didn't like the idea of insecticides. So I tried growing them in a barrel of compost but when I cracked it open there were some sleepy bees in there and I didn't know what to do with them. I stopped doing it after that. There were never enough taters to make it worth the money and effort either. I did better growing herbs and tomatoes, but only the herbs were worth the trouble. Your dad must have been better at growing taters. My dad didn't like growing food but he was very into keeping pigeons. He didn't eat them but we did get a few spare eggs.

I don't know if he was good at it
He always had one project or another on the go
Anything to escape into his own little world

Dad was like that with his pigeons. Mum didn't like it because she thought he loved them more than he loved her. She wasn't far wrong.

I grew potatoes once. I only got a few little ones at the end of the season though.

I had a book saying you could grow taters indoors in plant pots and you could use a fluorescent light if you didn't have enough sun.

Well, it has been a mid work day. Nothing terrible but I did dose off due to a lack of sleep. Hopefully I don't get sent to the naughty room tomorrow.

Surprisingly it was a short work day which was unexpected but I am all for it. Treated myself a free iced caramel latte and thankfully the wicked barista wasn't there. Instead we got a friendly one.

I spent my free time working on some art project and sipped my sweet nectar while listening to a random arrangement of music. By random I mean different kinds of genres. Right now I am cooking up some chicken for tonight's dinner, which is tacos. I assure they will taste good!

Overall, it has been a good Monday for me. A promising start of the week. Hopefully I get some good night rest.
