I also find it unexpected, but I guess it shows that people feel comfortable with being themselves here.
I think it's a bit different for me because I'm a nonromantic asexual - since I just don't have any desire, I don't feel any sort of emotion about it. If I did have romantic/sexual desires, it would probably feel a lot more personal to be disclosing them.

I wonder what it means to be yourself but I asked questions about that once and that didn't go well.

To me it means to show all of who you are, to not feel like you have to hide anything for fear of being judged for it or anything.

Same goes for me more or less; weird as it may be I'm not really inclined to avoid taboos despite a fairly solitary lifestyle.

Sometimes we just need the food for thought methinks.

You're a unique person - everyone's unique in their own way. You're caring and have a good sense of humor, you give good advice, and you've helped me get through some tough times. I don't think you're nobody.

No one is unique.
It's all been done and said and seen before, everything.
I'm unique and so are millions of other people, which makes me non-unique by default.

OK, I guess I can't say for sure that it's impossible for two (or more) people to be exactly the same, since I've only met a very small percentage of people, but the rest is absolutely true. You're at least somebody to somebody :)
Unless I'm also nobody, in which case I guess maybe we're a pair of nobodies.

Everyone is nobody.
Once you realise you're nobody you can give up trying to be somebody.
Freedom right there.
Life is easier that way.

And once you realise there is nothing that separates you from others, or others from you, you will see that we all want exactly the same thing, only we go about it in different ways.

Some people go about it by posting nonsensical shite on a forum, for instance.

Ah, I see I forgot to add something to the list earlier - you also have an interesting and respectable way of looking at things. It would probably be beneficial for me to pay attention and truly learn that, instead of just staying isolated and feeling worthless. Better to look at what I have in common with other people than the ways they're better than me. And look, you've helped me once again, whether that was the intent or not :)

Sounds a little bit nihilistic.

There's a lot to be said for freedom from identity. It lets us stop reaching for nebulous societal goals & examine what's actually relevant to individual existence.

QA could answer this with all the eloquence of a rock polisher full of thumb tacks. As for my viewpoint, you're our mysterious art-gifting Aussie friend.

Why do you think it sounds nihilistic?
