How much deeper would the ocean be without sponges?
About the height of the average sponge, times number of existant sponges, times the distance to the nearest sponge. Take the square root of that, and divide the result by the time there's been sponges around. Multiply by the ratio of dry-weight to saturated-weight of a sponge, then by the average time it takes a sponge to go from completely dry to completely soaked. That'll give you the depth difference, given in 6/29s of an old Danish inch...

Next question: What did I get wrong in the above calculation?
