I'm not even sure what a jelly roll is.
Is it literally made of jelly, rolled up?
Americans call it jello, don't they?
Jelly is what I would call jam.
This cross-culture stuff does my head in.

Oh, a Google search tells me it's rolled up patches of fabric.

It's a long stretch of pastry that is spread with jam/jelly and then rolled up.


Jello is something else entirely.

I was having visions of someone rolling up jelly (jello) and wondering how you would go about it.

A roly poly is made with pastry and a jam roll is made with sponge cake.

I'm done my book, sort of, at over 52,000 words. I just don't have an ending.

I remember the most annoying book I read had one of those endings where something completely unforeseen and nonsensical happened in the last few pages and you're left with WTF?
I threw the book out the window.
But in a way it was memorable because I've never forgotten how annoyed it made me.

On radio: Local police called to investigate several people looking around the parking lot and in the bushes next to a closed business at dusk. Responding officers found it was a clandestine Pokemon meeting. All is well.

If I did that, it would literally end in the middle of a chain of dialogue.

But I'm officially done my book now. I even have an ending, although if it's too 'tongue and cheek', as they say, I can just change the last line and it'll still be fine.

The police should change their slogan to "Gotta catch 'em all!"
