Oh, right. <Discworld.> :P  But wouldn't it have to be capitalized because it's sort of the beginning of a sentence?

Here's the revised version: [My mum helped.]

Memento Ludo
“I know many games. Dad taught me chess, checkers, Go.” The girl said, a genuinely cheerful smile fixed on her face. “Let’s play.”
She sat down on her sister’s bed: a nonchalant gesture under any other circumstances.
Her sister did not respond. She did not seem to be able to, but the girl continued talking regardless.
“How about skip rope? If either of us trips, the other wins. Will you play?” It was a simple question, not a challenge.
She turned towards the hooded and cloaked figure in the corner of the room.
“I accept.” death said calmly, and smiled.

It's not the beginning of a sentence.
"I accept," said death.

Oh. I see. My mind is kind of all over the place today.

Have a look at how speech marks are used.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever phrased as '...said Bob'; it's always been 'Joe said...'. I'm not sure why.

Is death a person?
Maybe you should use capitals.
I don't know now.

I like how Pratchett uses speech.

"Ho!" Said Nobby.
"Quite," said Antigua.
"Quiet, the lot of you," said Vimes sourly.

I think if you're talking about an entity representing death, it's capitalized. At least, that's how I've always seen it done.

Really...

I wonder what Death's actual name is?
I would like it to be Darren.

Funny how death is always portrayed as a man.

Then we have Mother Nature who brings abundance and life.
Matter, mater, mother.
