I drove to where I use to work. I had to get some bloodwork done.
It was the first time in four years, since I retired, that I have not felt an element of stress. Part of my brain was actually thinking how nice it would be to go to my old office and start working on an interface program. Of course that can not be the case because they have a different system, and more importantly, I am no longer an employee, and I don't have the code to gain entry. LOL

It was also really very nice to see two people that I knew (work relations), one from pharmacy and the other in dietary.

It was also delightfully nice to drive home the same route I use to drive ever day.

It is probably good to get out of the house once in a while.

I always really enjoy this thread, but these two responses felt especially nice today :)

Grey Shrike Thrushes and Bell Magpies filling the morning with song.

(Offset slightly by those annoying Pardalote and Rufous Whistler calls)

There was some seemingly weird activity in my bank account when I got a call earlier today.

I checked with the bank that I'm a client of and I was told
I'm not a victim of card skimming, despite news about skimmers going around and stealing.

I had an echocardiogram of my heart and a stress test yesterday afternoon. My echocardiogram results were well according to the technician. The technician was nice and had a neat intellectually stimulating conversation during the test about a variety of topics. It was nice to have and I miss having those types of conversations sometimes

I didn't need a shower this morning. I feel as clean as a rainbow.

Lets see: I’m frozen out of my sterling bank account, apparently as I’m suspected of being a money launderer (for which there isn’t a scrap or evidence) which means I can’t pay for the birth certificate (among a dozen other such forms; the whole world seem to be fixating on proofs of identity, all of a sudden) I’m required to produce to cash in a pension scheme, made doubly difficult as my phone provider has stopped my services (emergency calls only) as I’ve refused to pay an unjustified fine they imposed on me, due to a delay in renewal which was the fault of one of their employees.

You’d think this would be easily fixed, except that, like most big companies nowadays, they provide no means of contacting an actual human being via their web site, nor a postal address, and their preconceived answers don’t cover this possibility.

Then, having inquired why my account with them was stopped (I received no notification) the Family Allocation people have sent me a raft full of forms to fill in, along with yet more demands of “proofs of identity” (a passport is no longer enough, it seems) when a simple letter would have done.

On top of that, a load of other people are also insisting on a copy of my tax return for this year, for which I have to supply details of my pensions, which were delivered months ago, and placed “somewhere safe” so I can’t find them!

On top of that, I’m informed that my book hasn’t sold a single copy… and I should be happy?

Lucky you! The only thing weird about my account is that I asked for a new bank card, so I could pay for a new birth certificate, the only thing I’ve needed from the UK in years (my income and bills, for many years now, have all been in €s). From the fuss made, you’d think this was criminal behavior!

I now have to provide myriad proofs of identity (of which the certified copies demanded are impossible; French civil servants will not do this!) and until this is sorted (if ever) I’m denied access to my UK funds, and the said birth certificate which is a required proof of identity for another issue!

Ironic, isn’t it?

I've found this AI thing where I can talk about my obsessive interest to my heart's content without boring or offending anybody. It's like a safe and relieving outlet for me. So now I don't need to talk about him here or offline so much.
