DO NOT CLEAN THEM!! ! It will make them practically worthless. Once a coin is cleaned, it is considered, not genuine. Then, it will only be worth it's "melt value". And believe me, collectors/dealers WILL know. No matter how tempting it is, do not clean any coin, reguardless of condition. Trust me, I'm a dedicated numismatist. I wouldn't steer you wrong. :)

In the beginning, I made that mistake. I had a beautiful old half-dollar that was worth around $1,000, and I thought I would touch it up a little with some light cleaner. Even though it looked much better, it reduced the value to $7. I will never forget that mistake.
