Why, thank you, jk1. :)

I didn't take it myself. It surprises a lot of people that I just Googled for squirrel pictures that were the right size to fit in the avatar area; it being cute-looking is a side effect. :D

I do have an on-and-off special interest in squirrels, which happened to begin when I was also interested in taxonomy and animals in general. As a result of that, I retain the names of a number of relatively obscure types of squirrels, even in my off-phases. I also use the taxonomic family of squirrels, "Sciuridae", in a lot of my usernames online since it's one of my few past special interests that can be concisely summed up in one word.

I'm studying to be an engineer/scientist in college right now. (Even before I had to write formal lab reports, though, I had a number of strange aspects in my writing, such as avoiding the first person, which cause some people to view me that way.)

Actually, I did, in a way, associate Moomingirl with a hippo despite her custom rank saying that she was not one for the longest time. They are cute non-hippos, though; I'll agree with that.

Andras, your avatar looks awesome, but I'll concur with the others here and say that he probably shouldn't be smiling in his situation.

I was going to post a very long message about everyone's avatars and personalities, but since WP didn't want me to, I haven't.

To the main point, then. Moomingirl, I'm in this thread because I feel ignored by everyone on and offline because I'm not very interesting

It's nice to be back with you guys after a long time. It's occurred to me over the past few days that I'm still as unpopular as I was last year around this time. I also sense that some members have turned against me or grown apart from me. I think that's because I haven't matured as quickly as some of them, or that my gender issues are very well known around here. There are things that I feel safe talking about here, that I don't in real life.

To be honest, CR, I still fail to see anyone who dislikes you here. I've noticed you've been posting less, either that or I've been looking in the wrong places...

For the people who are wondering where my avatar is from > Link <. The guy is smiling in it, I guess he just enjoys slaying the evil monstrosities :P Thanks for the comments jk1, Moomingirl and Sciuridae!

Moomingirl, your avatar fits you well. It somehow gives me the impression that the poster is a caring and happy person.

It's too bad your long message somehow got erased, I was actually looking forward to it! :(

You're certainly not ignored by me, I like your company in the clean chat room and you could have possibly been one of my IRL friends if we went to the same school. We're more alike then you might think. :D

You? unpopular? But so many people seem to like you! 8O

Anyway, welcome back to the unpopular WP members club. We have free beverages and a nice array of food. Enjoy your stay! *Gives hug*

Ah...I was pretty pissed off because it was quite long, I might write it again later.

You gotta explain that one!

Okay Ten, I'm going to have to argue with you on this one. I can't vouch for what happens in real life, but here at WP you are not ignored. I am always happy when I see you in the Off The Wall Forum (except in TOW, where you are my nemesis  ), and you are certainly interesting. I mean, you have already got your own website going, as well as being here regularly, as well as whatever you do in the real world. I for one find that very interesting. And, if you'll pardon the language, you can stuff what NT's think IRL, they are frequently very stupid.
I too would like to read the long version of your post if you can be bothered rewriting it.

Andras, that is very sweet of you to say. Anyone who knows me in real life would faint if they read that, and was told it was about me 8O. I try so hard to be nice, but I think it is much easier here, where I can actually relate to people.
Happiness is something that is more elusive, I would certainly say that 'happy' was not my natural state for my first 25 years, until I finally got sick of being so miserable. Now I make a concerted effort to live life how I want to, and do the things that make me happy, even if it doesn't always fit in with other people's idea of how I should behave. Of course, that doesn't mean I have it all worked out either, sometimes I just come home, scream, and have a glass of wine!

The exact same here. I always try to be nice in real life but that sometimes ends up going completely wrong and people getting annoyed/mad at me. This even happened today for me. :(

Hmm..This is rather hard to explain for me. I'll give it a try!

You always seem to make either funny (I like your humor) posts, posts in a not so serious way or posts that are generally welcoming. It's pretty much my posting style as well. I'm not sure if this counts for you but my posting style is pretty much also how I am in real life.

You have an interest in weather, data, and autism which I'm also interested in, especially weather!

I've seen a pic of you once. You look a bit geeky/nerdy. Almost all my real life friends including myself look geeky/nerdy, probably more then you do. I hang around with mostly geeky/nerdy people. Don't take this in a wrong way, I'm very proud to be one myself! :)

Your age also plays a role. For whatever reason almost all my E-friends range in the age of 16 - 21. Below that is usually too childish and above is too mature for my liking.

Again, its rather hard for me to explain this but I hope this makes it a bit more clearer!

Wow...I clicked on this thread just to check it out. I am a super fan of this idea. I am usually comfortable in my unpopularity but on here I always wonder how people become friends. I guess with threads like this.

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!
Hello there Nymeria! Welcome to the thread for people that feel unpopular around here! (but usually aren't)

I haven't made any friends on WP yet and my inbox is usually empty which is why I feel at home in this thread. :)

Welcome to the thread Nymeria8 :)
I find it hard to believe you're still friendless, Andras! I will send you a message shortly, and I will also respond to most of the posts in the past two pages later on tonight

I'm kind of curious - does anyone consider me "unpopular"? o_O

I'm not entirely sure of my status on the forum with this regard, so I'm curious. XD

I don't believe so - do you feel unpopular?

Time for a long post!

jk1 wrote:
I agree with you guys that my not having an avatar (or having an invisible avatar) as well as my meaningless username is making me rather unnoticeable. I myself first look at the avatar to immediately identify other posters. Sometimes I fail to recognize other posters when they change their avatar. Any way, being unnoticeable is not as bad as being actively shunned. I don't feel any negative vibe here. I also think "feeling" unpopular is a rather subjective thing. You might feel unpopular even if others don't think you are. Still when you feel that way, I think this thread is there for you.
Well, I notice people by what they say, I think that's the most important thing. Avatars are cool though, and seeing familiar ones often makes me smile. Having said that, I still love to see the new avatars that new posters have and when not-so-new members change theirs. Mine is almost always cone-based (apart from my emoticon phase recently), and whilst they're slightly different, the principle very much remains the same. You say you're rather unnoticable. Nah, I don't think that's the case. Nobody *needs* an avatar - sometimes the lack of one is mysteriously interesting. Often I'm susceptible to associating the person with an avatar, and if it's an avatar of a person, I visualise that person saying what is said in the post...

I do think that people judge me based on the squirrel-related things on my profile, but I don't really care all that much about it.
Well, if they do judge you, it can't be all that bad. My first thought upon seeing you was "yay, a squirrel!". Judging off avatars is quite a bit silly in any case. It's the post that counts.

Andras, I loved your old smiling cat picture. I laughed at that one the first couple of times

Oh no, an argument!
I often get rather frustrated because I don't feel that I fit in with either the AS or the NT crowd, and often that I have the worst qualities of both. Real life doesn't bother me, apart from not having any friends less than 20 miles away, and consequently nobody I can see on a near-daily basis. My issues are more than just feeling ignored though, I'm going to post in the haven about it pretty soon.
But, you know, I try to be nice and friendly to everyone, but it's draining for me, on and offline.

Well that's what I do best...I don't really post about serious stuff because it requires much more use of the brain.

Excellent! *gives Andras a complimentary umbrella should he ever visit the UK*

Did you see my latest pic in members only? I've changed just a little since I first posted pictures of me two years ago. Not that I really care that much about how I look.

I don't mind speaking to just about anyone. It's good to talk to new people about things.

Why do you feel unloved, equestriatola?

I've been posting more. I'm not going to let the more popular members intimidate me.
