Dear Jory and Myth, I live in southern California, and over the years I've seen coyotes 3 blocks away from where I live, then 1 street over (that time was a pair of them, probably mates, I think,) and then a lone one 3 houses down, right around midnight a few months ago. I do not know how you are so calm about the wolf, I'd still be shaking, years later!! Sylkat 8O

I really like this cool weather; been in the 40s today, which is great compared to the mid- to upper-90s happening just a couple of months ago. Not cold, but cool/chilly; enough to wear long sleeves, which I very much like.

It's supposed to get into the 30s Fahrenheit over the weekend.

I was indeed scared at first, but the fear faded when I saw that it was more frightened of me and trying to avoid me. I was later told that they usually act that way when they venture into the city.

I'm from Southern Arizona and I've seen coyotes a number of times within the city limits. They're looking for food no doubt. My sister's cat was killed by a coyote. I've never allowed my cats to go outside because of it. Even now that I live on the East Coast, I won't let them go outside.

My mother lives out in the middle of no where and always carries a loaded gun on her whenever she walks down to the mail box or visits a neighbor because of coyotes and other people's dogs who get out. She was arrested for firing her gun once because somebodies rottweiller (or however you spell it) was barking and running towards her one day and she wanted to scare it away from her. The owner called the police on my mother who has never been in type of trouble or arrested before in her life. The owner should be thankful my mother didn't shoot and kill their dog, she thought it was going to attack her and the owner should of had the dog contained. It was dismissed in court.

My step-father was jogging out where they live, years ago and he spotted several coyotes around him but nothing happened. It scared the Hell out of him. So after that he started jogging with a loaded gun and told my mother not to go off their property (which is fenced pretty high) without her gun.

They get other wild animals coming down from the mountains they live by and into the area where they live as well such as mountain lions, bobcats, deer, havalina (wild boars), rattle snakes, etc.

I've seen wolves (I think grey wolves) a few times but that has been in other areas of Arizona and not in the Tucson area for some reason. I've seen all kinds of other animals when I worked in the copper mines.

We get a few coyotes where I live, but they never come around the neighborhoods.

That's good, hopefully they won't ever. I think somewhere in Cali was having problems with them attacking small children or something like that one time.
