Oh my Lord. That's very interesting. It looks like she even got married. He must have been a "leg" man. Just think, she always had to buy 2 pairs of shoes, 2 sets of socks, 2 pants, 2 hose, extra nail polish. Huh.

This picture was taken back in the 1800's! I wonder how she lived like that. Probably had no friends. I can't even imagine.

I like looking at historical pictures, though I do feel sorry for her.

I liked the bit about when she found out she was pregnant the first time - she wasn't expecting that it would be in the womb on that side of her body because she preferred her "sexy times" on the other side!

Where did you find that info? I had to look up her name because when I clicked on the link you had, it didn't work. Can you give it to me again?

Thank you. I'm reading it now.

Strange question. How did her husband know which side to use? You know what I mean? I just got to the part where they find out she's pregnant.

I also don't like that she was in a sideshow - her parents should have stopped that and then her doctor called her a monster. That's just plain rude.

I can't stop thinking about it. I'm wondering if they did an autopsy after she died. She had 2 uteruses which means she had two bladders and would have to have had 2 sets of intestines, but did she have 2 stomachs? She clearly had one chest (heart, lungs and esophagus). Where did it splice off? How many livers, kidneys, gallbladders, pancreases did she have? I just can't see them back in the 20's letting something like that go without an autopsy. Interesting.

^^Yes, it's a bit of a morbid fascination for me too - I also spent a bit of time looking into the teratogens etc, that you mentioned earlier. More so, I had a special interest for a while about the people who ended up working in the "freak shows". Their physical and mental differences, and the causes of them, would have been treated so differently back then that I find it very hard to know how to feel about some of the stories.

There were some of them who came straight out and said that they were glad of the freak-shows for providing them with a little bit of independence and income, and distance from cruel family members, when there was no other option than being locked away in a hellish asylum. But then, some of the people running those shows were exploitative, cruel tyrants, and it would mean being stared at and poked and prodded all day by the public. Awful as it is to think, compared to many, Myrtle Corbin seems to have been one of the *relatively* lucky ones.

Yes I'm still awake. She made $450 a week in that freak show it says. I wouldn't be surprised if her parents made her do it.

Her husband was a doctor. Makes me wonder if he was interested in her mainly for the science.

I've learned that you don't necessarily have to buy a new pc every 3-4yr rather upgrading specific components is a better future proofing option

unless you have a laptop like me  too much of a hassle to get in those cramoed spaces, i would imagine.

mine has been serving me since the holiday season of 2012 and aside from some mysterious crashes months ago it is still going strong.

i learned pink floyd was active earlier than i thought.
