I am the only one of my father's children who doesn't have any children. I am also the only one who's never graduated from college, rented an apartment or owned a home, and gotten married. :( I am the odd person out. :cry:

I could be wrong here but I think most of us here feel like the black sheep of the family or the odd one out

I could be wrong here but I think most of us here feel like the black sheep of the family or the odd one out


I like to think of myself as different rather than odd.(no matter how odd I may seem to some people)
Why compare myself to someone who isn't me?
We are all unique but what unites most of us on here is our autistic traits.
But even then our traits can be very different to each other.

It's about time we began to celebrate our differences rather than beat ourselves up for it.

The Bible Belt doesn't allow me to celebrate. It thinks I am insane and need to be institutionalized.

I didn’t know you had a diagnosis yet. I thought you were waiting to get assessed.

Were you diagnosed as an Aspie?

You know I’m not the type that really cares about diagnoses. I only care about people.

I'm still waiting for my report but I've had a written confirmation diagnosis of ASD , I'm not sure if that makes me an Aspie as it all comes under the ASD umbrella , Aspies are being phased out.

At the very least, you would probably be an Aspie according to the vernacular definition. Under the ICD-10, the Aspergian diagnosis still exists.

Yeah I'm guessing if I was diagnosed with the ICD-10 it would be Asperger's - you say toe-may-toe I say to-mar-toe

If I was going to explain to anyone I would use Aspergers rather than ASD as they would be more likely to understand

Does a severe speech delay automatically rule out Asperger's ? I'm sure there's an exception to the rule.

I'd have to fake not having ASD , get my Dx removed , change country ( ICD-10 country )and get another Dx if I wanted to be an Aspie :lol:

So how do you see yourself?

I was told the same about us all being under the umbrella term of ASD. She said if I was diagnosed only a few years before I would have probably been told I was an Aspie.

It made no difference to me.
