Lewis Carroll, because I love his wordplay, the surreal & fantastical nature of his storylines and characters, and the little logical/philosphical puzzles that are woven into his writing. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass have been my favourite works of fiction since childhood. :)

If you could have dinner with any three people (dead or living), who would you choose?

As someone from the UK you might find this boring, but I'd go to London. I only lived there for 6 months, but it felt more like home than anywhere in the US.

No, not boring at all - London sounds like an amazing city with so much to explore, and in spite of being from the UK I'm yet to go (I'm much further north). If I was based overseas like you, I would definitely choose somewhere in England - but as it happens I am British, and so my choice would be Alaska

No. My dad did, though, a long time ago.

Have you ever been outside of the country? If so, where did you go? what were your thoughts on it?

I went to Mexico(Cozumel) I felt embarrassed because I tried to speak Spanish there, and failed miserably.

Ever felt embarrassed by failing to speak a language in a country not your own?

yeah. there was this migrant girl working in a train station in graz, austria, fronting a bakery from where i wanted to purchase a quick bite to eat on the bus ride back to zagreb. i spoke no german, and aside from being able to tell me she spoke no english...she spoke no english. we tried to communicate by gestures, but it was a pathetic display. she had to call another, english speaking employee to get me on my way.

and then merely getting on that bus to zagreb was a similar hassle in itself  but that's a different tale. it was pretty embarrassing at that moment, but even though i plan to return there this december i'm likely never going to see those two again so whatever.

same question. (it's a good one)
