It's still not a job I enjoy. It also takes up a good portion of the day and once I am out of it, I am mentally drained from constantly thinking about how I am so far behind my peers, my dreams are unreachable, and I am stuck in a rut until I exit.

I don't even try to engage in my hobbies anymore. I sometimes think I should just throw away my guitar and trash my drawing supplies because I am past the age where I can actually develop talents in them.

you are NOT too old to learn. i'm not sure why you persist in espousing that idea. many of us countered it last time you posted it. and, if it's fun, why worry if you're picasso or segovia or clapton?

My mind just won't let me think I am not too old. It's constantly reverberating with the thoughts I have and refuses to quit. Whenever I try to formulate a new thought pattern, the old ones block it from circulating.

If it's not too personal a question , how old are you dude ?

I believe he's 29.

Yes, and I will be 30 in a few more months. I've actually been told that is a good time to consider suicide if things haven't gotten better by then.

I have learned to enjoy the little things in life.

But for how much longer? I know people who are younger than me and they already have a family while I can't even get a damn date.

^That's one of the reasons why I like Zen, especially the story about the first Zen master who watched the Buddha hold up a flower for ages and laughed and laughed because he knew.

Someone gave my redneck father a book on Zen Buddhism and he only took one look at it before putting it aside.

Unfortunately, someone on here ruined Buddhism for me. His signature claims to uphold peace and comfort but he attacked me and made wrongful assumptions about me.

One person doesn't mandate how the entire-ness of Buddhism is.

Attacking others is not the Zen way.
Letting go and having compassion is.
But no one can really say what zen is.
You have to feel it.

Really bad panic attack that lasted all afternoon. I even fell to the floor because I couldn't stop crying and wasn't able to breathe.

I'm fine now. Sometimes people who didn't know that I have chronic panic attacks thought that I was "throwing a fit".

It could be you need some stronger techniques to help you deal with those embedded beliefs. There are so many different ways to challenge yourself, finding one that suits you is the important thing.

I hope you find a different way of doing things soon.
