Bats, because you're not supposed to be able to hear them. I was out on the river at dusk with some friends and they couldn't hear it. We were all aged 18-21 at the time. It might have been insect countermeasures, but either way I could hear it and my friends could not.

I'd like to avoid wars, but that would take more than just a time machine.
In my own personal history (my past) - probably nothing. I like where I am now and I wouldn't want to risk causing the butterfly effect.
