I was about to say something dirty about your hair, but nope. 
It probably doesn't matter too much if you wash it today or not. How long have you gone without a shower?

It was really time for that. If you can smell your own stink, that's a clear sign to get clean.

I was not always smelly like this. Up until the age of 6 or so I never stank.
But I had a friend that did. And I thought it was gross at first. But then I learned to love the stinkiness. No homo.
I plan to grow my hair to about the lengh you have right now.
The only good thing about very short hair is it being low-maintenance and you can go around two weeks without anyone noticing the smudginess.
Otherwise, I believe, long hair looks much better on me.
