Indeed.

I've been good and bad and inbetween. My pets are well and my cat has reached his adult size now! He's very puny though, he'll look like a kitten forever.

Hello fellow Unpopulars!

This is my second attempt to develop relationships with people in the WP forum and IRC channels. The first time I was pretty much ignored in the forum. I'm grateful artrat started this thread because just the idea gave me some hope. What finally was the straw on the proverbial camel’s back was when I suggested that people doing things like crack cocaine or meth pay a higher premium for healthcare because they are taking bigger risks with their health. I do not support the war on drugs or any other state intrusion into private citizen’s lives.

Extending that principle of paying a premium for higher risk behaviour caused at least 5 people on the WP IRC channel to attack me personally. They offered no logical reason why society should provide anything more then basic detoxification and remedial therapy for drug addicts that haven’t paid the premium for indulging in their drug of choice. They just demonized me. After that I never went back to the forum and never joined the channel again until now.

The primary function of my life over the past 2 decades has been the research and design of intentional community with a special mission to support sexual, gender and psychological minorities, their allies and advocates. This first community will be built here in Arizona not because it’s populated with free thinkers and liberals but because it’s need most here because it’s one of the most socially conservative and brutal places in USA for just about anybody that isn't a Lily White, Ethnocentric, Christian, Social Conservative.

A sanctuary for people that have been forced to exist at the fringes of society is needed here. Hopefully with the project’s success we will be able to build a network of these communities around the world with each one localized to their regional culture.

I suppose what I've been seeking is a sense of community with people that at least share some of my core values and interests which are primarily in the behavioural sciences.

I like your threads, I can relate to them.

Even if your threads were annoying (which i will happily contest) it is better than being annoying.

Why should not drug abusers, heavy smokers, heavy drinkers not pay larger insurance premiums?

I work in a hospital and have taken care of long-term smokers and drinkers, believe me, their damaged lungs, hearts, kidneys are costing millions to the health-care providers, and to the other members, whose premiums go up every year!

Not even to go into long-term effects of crack, cocaine, and marijuana.

People will do what they choose.....why are others penalized for it?
